#Spring is here, weeds are here. Galium aparine says whaddup. While this plant is very #weedy, some may say #noxious, but it has some great benefits. In the #Rubiaceae family, the seeds can be roasted for a coffee substitute or the dried leaves can be made into a tea to help with lymph nodes. ✌️

I was almost acosted today. It's early, I'm sleepy, listening to a podcast and running dripper lines for the nursery yard. This #Killdeer - Charadrius vociferus, sees murder in his eyes. I gave him space and he sat back down on 4 eggs, watching me the whole time. #birdphotography #birding #squish

#Turbinicarpus alonsoi blooming so outstandingly beautoful today. This is a recent acquisition to make sure I had proper gene mixing for my pair. Hope everyone has a great weekend. ✌️ #cactus #cactusflower #bloomscroll #rosaflores #flower #plantphotography #pollenmakesmesneeze

Some more #flowers for all you to #bloomscroll for today. #Hoya bella in pic 1 & #Hoya khroniana 'Black' for pic 2. Bella has no scent while khroniana smells like an old church lady's perfume.

Having been obsessed with "Pillbugs" as a kid, I keep a number of #isopods. These are the gems that drew me to finally collecting these arthropods. #Armadillidium klugii 'Montenegro Clown'. The markings are said to mimic the local Mediterranean black widow and I find them cute. #buglife #arthropods

As I am eagerly waiting for spring to hit, I will keep sharing some of past years top hits. Today we have: Phyciodes tharos - Pearl Crescent These guys being roughly 35mm in total are small, but way beautiful. I plant Asclepias incarnata to attract them, but they're not overly picky as seen here.

I took this set of photos last year while doing some gardening for some clients. Chelone obliqua - Red/Pink Turtlehead is a buzz pollinator favorite. Pictured with a non native Apis mellifera - European Honeybee. I love these big lipped plants that swallow bees up, so cute. #bees #gardens #flowers

#Lophophora koehresii showing off today. No #flower buds in sight for quite awhile and then bam! Planted habitatstyle and overpotted to let these two grow up together. Been in my care for over a year now. Topdressing is crushed akadama /w dragonstone. #cactus #cactusflower #seedgrown #fuckpoachers

Newest addition(s) to my 150g planted community tank. #Apistogramma borelli 'Opal' This little stunning male is smaller than my smallest Rummy Nose Tetra. It's a pretty fun game to try and find the female. As you can see by her color, she's also about .5" long. #aquarium #plantedtank #aquapets

My wife and I started #hybridizing #Hemerocallis (Daylily) 5 years ago. Having joined the AHS, been taught by Tom Keast and refined our #pollination techniques, we feel comfortable registering our first #flower. 🤘 2023 Seedling - Black Fathom Depths x Blue Beetle (Name pending.)

It's 75° outside here in NE with a blizzard on tbe way, what better time than now to throw some #BigBeautifulBlooms? I've grown this Gymnocalycium damsii v. rotundulum from seedling size and it's been a crazy good bloomer for a couple years now. #cactus #cactusflower #bloom #fromseed #botany

Turbinicarpus pseudomacrochele ssp. minimus is going hard this morning. A flower the size of a dime and I saw it from across the room. Lil' banger of a plant. 🤘 #cactus #turbinicarpus #cactusflower #botanyordeath

It's a little messy, but I like the more "lived in" style instead of algae free and spotless. Just added in some Crypts and Buces last night. 16 gallon Fluval Flex with a pair of Appistogramma hongsloi and a juvenile L448. 5 years running. #plantedtank #aquarium #plantedaquarium #aquaticplants

My first fish as a kid were Paracheirodon innesi - Neon Tetra. These started my love for #aquariums and #Characins in general. I've since learned over the years that Paracheirodon axelrodi - Cardinal Tetra are hardier, larger and more vibrant. I like to keep a school of around 30 in my 150g.

[Frightened Moans] Two of my favorite funny people, what a treat.

#Lophophora williamsii bloom for today. This one is a prolific bloomer and pod producer. #Glaucous is probably my favorite color, goes well with those pink petals. Love the trichome tufts too, so fluffy. #cactus #cactusflower #6082b6 #seedgrown #fuckpoachers

Good morning everyone. #Echinocereus reichenbachii var. albispinus is showing off today and I wanted to share. This is a recent impulse acquisition into my collection and quickly becoming a favorite. I'm ususlly more of a #lophophora or #astrophytum guy myself, but those white spines are wild. 🤘

#Spring is almost here! You know what that means!?! That's right, #aphids! These little wierdos are probably the most common #gardenpests youll see. Here pictured is Uroleucon ambrosiae - Brown Ambrosia Aphid in all it's incomolete life stages. These guys are common, but easy to maintain.

I've kept #aquariums pretty much all of my life, about 30 years total. First 10g was when I was 7. Buying captive bred and breeding more species into the hobby has been a drive in me the past 15 years or so. This amazing #Appistogramma hongsloi pair has been a delightful recent pickup.

Since I've started my journey into amature lepidoptery, I've grown exponentially fond of the "Skipper" family. They are so often looked over as far as #butterflies go, but they are some of the friendliest and #fluffiest little #pollinators around the garden. Atalopedes huron - Huron Sachem

Being apart of the #NebraskaDaylilySociety has introduced me to some of the nicest and best hybridizers I could ever imagine. Little did I know how well known my mentor, Tom Keast was around the states and I feel super grateful. Pictured is the magnum opus of our garden. Years of hybridizing. 🌸🙏🏵

Diptera (flies) get a bad rap, but they are some of the best #pollinators around. This here is a Helophilus latifrons aka Broad-headed Marsh Fly. You'll see these in late spring to late fall tootin around your flowers. They also like your salty sweat. Shout out to #Hoverflies for being real ones.

Good afternoom Bluesky, this is my first post to introduce myself and become apart of the socials. Hello, my name is Jim. I have a degree in Horticulture and work with plants for a living. Pleased tovmeet you and I look forward to sharing my plants, garden and finding with you. 🌻✌️🦋
