Outstanding. Read this.

Great #Detroit date night with old friends last night at vesperbooksandwine.com , Scotty Simpson's Fish & Chips, and the redfordtheatre.com

The great @chrismurphyct.bsky.social has been pressing the anti-corruption message. This speech on the floor of the Senate yesterday is a powerful indictment. buff.ly/LOuhaxV

These snoots are made for snalking And that's just what they'll snoo One of these days these snoots Are gonna snalk all over snou

one thing I've become very convinced of is the need for the civil service to do waaayyyy more propaganda. like you should know about how NOAA makes the weather app on your phone work. you should know that Uncle Sam runs GPS. you should know how impressive the US census data collection effort is, etc

"Everything my life had been before and has been after pales in the light of that awesome moment when my amtrac started in amid a thunderous bombardment toward the flaming, smoke-shrouded beach for the assault on Peleliu." ~ E. B. Sledge, 'With the Old Breed'

Let's talk about the Sexualized Dystopia aspect of Kubrick's "A Clockwork Orange." 🎬 We know the movie is set in a light-dystopian future/dimension with weirdly-dressed violent gangs, government crackdowns on dissidents, and police routinely driving people out to the outskirts to brutalize them. 🧵

Great illustration of why Dems need to reach all those people who live in strongly conservative areas like northern #Michigan but aren't themselves strongly conservative.

America is being sold out by its leaders

I can't speak for anyone else, But a thing that I am finding is really helping me to get through all this nonsense is helping others. It can be something small- sharing a job ad with a fired colleague, looking over a resume- or something larger. But helping others helps me.

Pro-congestion felon wonders why everyone is complaining about traffic.

@activetowns.bsky.social , is there a name for reducing the number of side street / main street intersections for cars, which would improve safety for everyone on the main street? Intersections would remain usable for pedestrians, just closed to cars. Do you know of efforts to do this?

Most on this site know that federal workers are good people who work hard. But it's striking to see the data. Federal workers put in more hours a week than anyone except military and self-employed. Federal workers take fewer days off than almost any others www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

Wish it'd been something more punk-adjacent for this post, but it was 1980 in Michigan, I was record shopping with my dad at Southland Mall, of COURSE it was gonna be Seger!

Whoah, Soderbergh stripped the color and soundtrack from Raiders of the Lost Ark, replacing it with a Reznor/Atticus collab as a staging exercise and it's gorgeous extension765.com/blogs/soderb...

Rarely has so much ignorance & ahistorical BS been crammed into a single tweet. I know JD Vance & Donald Trump are busy surrendering to a KGB butcher, abandoning the cause of freedom, & destroying the security of America & her allies, but they'd do well to spend some time actually studying history.

I could've listened to @danny-elfman.bsky.social and Rob Lowe trade stories, especially about the 80s LA music scene, all. damn. day! (PS Rob, the world needs a new West Wing with a President Seaborn jamming Boingo in his offtime right now) literally-with-rob-lowe.simplecast.com/episodes/dan...

June 22nd #Detroit !

If we allow women's pants to have pockets, they might use them to shoplift small amounts of rice and raisins out of supermarkets. The risk is simply too great.

"Musk’s stake in Tesla comprises the lion’s share of his wealth. He can laugh off a few protesters, but if consumers launch a sustained boycott, both Musk and his car company could find themselves in dire straits."

I for one welcome Greenlanders to the fold, and can't wait for my dad's favorite 80s beer to finally have a worthy namesake! Can we rename one of the big glaciers 'Chuck'? vinepair.com/articles/rem...

Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal, Amsterdam in 1981 and today. De-paving helps fight climate change but also creates places where people want to spend time and linger, rather than places where people just store their cars.

Harry Stewart Jr. recorded three air-to-air victories in one day as a World War II Tuskegee Airman and won the first-ever 'Top Gun' contest for military pilots. He has died at 100 years old.

Really going to miss the poise and dignity of Kamala Harris the next few years. This was an insightful view of her, from the person tasked with watching her the most. slate.com/news-and-pol...

@kairyssdal.bsky.social Seriously Kai, this month would've been a LOT better if you had just run for President last year

How about every single elected and high-level official in the federal government?

Does this JFK/RFK/MLK document release do anything other than scratch some boomer nostalgia itch? Is it reasonable to assume anything important is going to come out of this, or is it flooding the system so we pay less attention to actual horrible current events?
