Best book picked up for Indie Bookstore Day. Half off at DreamHaven Books and Comics here in Minneapolis. 😳 Such a great bookstore.

Fun time boppin' around local indie bookstores yesterday with Deb. And great seeing the number of people out there crowding stores and buying books as well. Side note: Artwork for the roadmap and stamp book by the incredible Kevin Cannon. @kevincannon.bsky.social

Happy #IndependentBookstoreDay from "Sally Forth" as Hil, Nona, and Faye visit their local comic book store today. @jimkeefe.bsky.social @comicskingdom.bsky.social

Whenever I have Hil and her friends picking up graphic novels, I like to include real titles. In today’s strip, Faye has a copy of Tiffany’s Griffon by Maddi Gonzalez and Magnolia Porter Siddell. I picked this one up last year at Autoptic. Maddi’s work is stellar - Highly recommended!

My two cents on AI art. Spoiler alert - it's theft. www.patreon.com/posts/ai-art...

As some may know, I subscribe to Arnold Schwarzenegger's Pump Club, “The Positivite Corner of the Internet.” Along with health tips (back pain relieved), they give bullet points that I apply to my job/life as a cartoonist. Works for me. 👍

And yes, I do have the cow puppet used in today’s Sally Forth strip. Fun fact - I was actually the inspiration for the 1980s sitcom “Too Close for Comfort” starring Ted Knight. To check out the Sally Forth strip just go to comicskingdom.com/sally-forth/2025-04-20

#TBT Got a Facebook message out of the blue from Jim Samuelson, a former classmate I haven't seen since middle school. Seems he was going through some old boxes and found a drawing I had done when we were in 5th grade folded up in an old yearbook - pic of us from the yearbook attached as well. 😁

Recently took a watercolor class at the Atelier in Minneapolis. Here's the portrait I did from a live model, with an assist by instructor, Stuart Loughridge. More of a breakdown on my Patreon at patreon.com/JimKeefe #watercolor

What happens in the Sally Forth comic strip stays in the Sally Forth comic strip... 😳 @fmarciuliano.bsky.social

Just say no.

Took a watercolor class recently at The Atelier in Minneapolis. Recommend them highly! Here’s a quick demo done by the instructor, Stuart Loughridge. 👍👍👍👍 theatelier.org

Just a quick heads up that I wrote and drew a short story for Flash Gordon Adventures #2, coming out this November from Papercutz. With character designs by Art Baltazar, this is quite the departure from how I used to draw the Flash Gordon comic strip. I hope you'll check it out!

Fantagraphics booth at the MOCCA Arts Festival 2025. Gary Groth, Karen Green, Jaime Hernandez and Ari Richter.

A few weeks back was the MoCCA Arts Fest. Comics Kingdom had a booth, and one of the things they gave away to attendees was a newspaper comic section they put together comprised of King Features comics strips.  The front cover featured Popeye by Hy Eisman (March 27, 1927 - March 27, 2025). 💚

Just say no. 🤮

Hy Eisman RIP (3/27/1927-3/27/2025) A National Cartoonists Society Award winning cartoonist, Hy had worked for many different publishers over the years (Charlton, Marvel and Harvey to name a few) and had also worked on such classic comic strip characters as the Katzenjammer Kids and Popeye.

When I tell siblings/relatives that I have an upcoming comic book lecture - and then add that it'll be at a brewery. 😁

Here's a fun fact to read while scrolling - Too much media use is associated with lower happiness, self-esteem, and life satisfaction. Go figure. 🫤 pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30859387/

Day 4 of my convention cold - thankful it's not convention covid. On the upswing now. Can't blame being at MoCCA entirely though. Flight to and from New York, and the St. Patrick's Day parade were on top of that. 🤧

MoCCA 2025 - Met Bob Pollak back when I was working on Flash Gordon and he was a teacher out in Brooklyn. He made his way into the Flash Gordon comic strip as General Kallop. And consider yourself officially no-prized if you can figure out how I came up with that name.

A few pics from MoCCA 2025. First pic is me and @fmarciuliano.bsky.social. After over a decade of working together on the Sally Forth comic strip, we finally meet for the first time face-to-face. More at patreon.com/JimKeefe Free to join - or choose a paid membership for exclusive bonus content.

It's Al Williamson's Birthday (March 21, 1931 – June 12, 2010)! So a quick heads up that the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum has an upcoming Spotlight on Al Williamson March 29th at 5pm. Hosted by his wife, Cori Williamson, and son Victor. More info at cartoons.osu.edu/events/larry...
