That was a nice week off. Now back to work tomorrow. I do hope I remember how code works…

Enjoying my vacation this week. I have absolutely no idea what day it is and loving every minute I spend with my wife and kids.

Started out this week with a drive through the Texas country (always my favorite thing as I grew up doing so) to a retreat where we can just go pet and feed goats and sleep in a tiny house. I’m definitely taking advantage of flex PTO to more time off often.

Had a midweek lunch with a friend then now working from a coffee shop. I love remote work. And, meeting with likeminded friends is always good for the soul, especially during a workweek.

My 7-year old just asked me to buy Pokémon cards for trading. Should I be worried?

It seems that the sickness cycle has been going on since the beginning of year. I want a refund on 2025 now. *gestures at today’s events*

Just finished my second work out of the week. Here’s to building atomic habits.

Some days I do miss IRC and ASCII art. That was essentially peak internet.

Played pickleball for the first time. Also worked out for the first time this year. My knees disliked it today.

Merged a major piece of task this morning at work. Took a walk around the lake. Joined a video chat with deaf engineers. Pretty much completed rings on my Apple Watch but I'm feeling meh so I'll probably just sit here and stare at the screen for rest of the day before picking up kids from school.

It’s always a slow burn, and when you realize you’re in a hot pan, it’s essentially too late. And I hate that my state is leading the way here.

Section 504 and IDEA were essential in me and many deaf students having accommodations in K-12, and even university settings. Making an argument that they are unconstitutional is inhumane.

Nothing like getting 429 from the API I am working with for testing at the end of the day basically telling me, “it’s quitting time. Try again Monday.”

I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world. Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

Soul is one of the most profound Pixar films that isn’t talked about enough.

I think I may be the only developer among my peers that has not yet created a website. Glaring at the domain name I bought last year.

Since apparently being a nice person is illegal in the US now, it’s time to pull out my most popular blog post ever. It’s called “survival tips for women in tech”, but I’m told it works for all genders and in countless industries. patricia.no/2018/09/06/s...
