Anora is fantastic, but The Substance is even better. Demi deserved more recognition—Mikey was great, but Demi was truly outstanding. Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross were unfairly overlooked. Emilia Pérez and A Complete Unknown were overrated, yet every winner earned their award.

I recently rewatched Good Time, saw Daddy Longlegs for the first time, and plan to rewatch Uncut Gems soon. The Safdie brothers keep improving with each film. I appreciate their naturalistic style and Cassavetes influence, though their protagonists always give me anxiety.

It turned out to be Se7en Day. I watched the film in IMAX and got the 4K the same day. I have always believed that Se7en showcased Fincher's talents in a way that ALIEN3 never would. Obviously. Se7en allowed him to develop his skills, which continued to evolve with Zodiac*.

Best of 2024 as of this exact moment. I still didn’t see Anora, the Brutalist, Flow, Nickel Boys, A Real Pain, etc., so not a definitive list. My favorite film will most likely be the Substance.
