FWIW, Gen Slife (Vice Chief of the Air Force) is an incredibly intelligent guy. Former Vice Commander of SOCOM & Commander of AFSOC, he was rumored as a possible candidate to be the next commander of SOCOM. I have no idea why he was fired but clearly that’s no longer in the cards.
