Unison is the largest women’s organization in the UK. It has a million women members. The Unison women’s conference just voted for a motion that said; “trans women are women and trans men are men” with no-one speaking against it. Transphobia is a top-down, elite practice.

The main thing America has sold the world for 75 years is the idea of its fundamental competence. Now that that idea has been so violently exploded, what is left? Advanced scientific or medical research? Manufacturing prowess? Cheap labor? Rare minerals? Unusual agricultural products? I am curious.

Béla Bartók was born on this day in 1881. There are few pieces of music I love more than The Wooden Prince and the Philharmonia's playing is absolutely incandescent in this performance conducted by Neeme Järvi. One of my favourite recordings.

Hoisting this up from the replies: cosigned, and also check out the Cincinnati Symphony with Paavo Järvi doing a Concerto for Orchestra double-header. Lutosławski was not just one of Poland's greatest composers but also a hero of Solidarity.
