I know that there is a vacuum of SINNERS hype right now (which I’m personally a part of) but don’t let it drown out how great THE SHROUDS is. It’s easily one of Cronenberg’s best and is a must see if it’s playing near you. I saw it on a big screen a few months ago and can’t wait to see it again.

Caught SINNERS in a packed (over 200 people) Dolby Cinema screening and you could have heard a pin drop; I can’t remember the last time I witnessed an audience so firmly in the palm of the hand of a filmmaker. One of the best theater experiences I’ve had in years.

Unequivocally the best time ever to be a physical media collector. Just an onslaught of releases nobody saw coming, like ten disc collections of films you’ve never heard of from a filmmaker you’ve also likely never heard of. Can’t wait to pore every every minute of this.

The Tribeca badge this year was worth it for this alone @severinfilms.bsky.social

The synopsis for SPECIES II reads like Elon fan fiction in 2025

Show support, today and all days

Far and away one of my most wanted 4K upgrades is dropping in July. Gremlins 2 next, please! (Only seeing preorder at WalMart currently which I refuse to link to)

These articles always ignore the legacy of home video pricing and what it costs to produce lavish disc releases in the 2020s. Sure, it isn’t cheap to buy, but it also isn’t cheap to make. Yet, despite rising costs, if anything there are *more* people buying discs now than a couple years ago.

I’m not the biggest Blumhouse stan but I really dig the one two punch of WOMAN IN THE YARD and DROP, both remarkably efficient genre exercises that understand the assignment and are stylish without feeling void of character. Honestly surprised that both are failing to connect with audiences.

Y’all reacted the same way, don’t act like you didn’t.

So many good discs coming up that my pre-orders won't even fit on one page in my blu-ray.com account any longer. Anything highly anticipated that I forgot to order?

Clueless is an all timer for me so it's a major cause for celebration that Paramount are giving it this kind of treatment, which we seldom see from studios at this point.

I’ll never understand the complaints that good movies aren’t playing in theaters regularly. I’ve seen 27 movies from 2025 theatrically this year and would recommend all but maybe 5 of them, and all were in wide release. Sure, there are other valid reasons to rag on theaters but not selection.

I don’t think we are collectively talking enough about how Sally Potter’s ORLANDO is getting a 4K UHD release in June with Dolby Vision and hours of extras, including numerous Potter short films.

You know what’s way cooler than AI action figure bullshit? Actually getting custom figures of yourselves made.

Woman In the Yard (2025)

New arrivals for this week, some big ones here!

RIP to Ted Kotcheff, one of the most diverse and humble filmmakers we ever had.

Another week, another garbage AI trend. As always, anyone I follow posting AI art is immediately unfollowed and that includes turning yourself into an action figure. Support human artists!
