Excited to be in Edinburgh for the @oshwassociation.bsky.social Summit!! I really enjoyed hacking on the train from London!

Fantastic ending to Baroness Kidron's speech in the House of Lords yesterday, which led to the government's defeat on AI & copyright. Speaking the UK's creators: "Their property, their labour, is worthy of your protection - because apart from anything else, it is not ours to give away."

in a just world, this would get people fined to a degree that they could never work in technology ever again

I finally got around to adding a texture to my low-poly character. I want to get better at making art in #blender. I learned how to do this by taking @crashsune.bsky.social 's awesome course on YouTube!

Looking forward to speaking at #OHS2025 in May!

In this week's Bathysphere I recommend @jmakivic.bsky.social's Ghostboi in the Land of the Dead as a great example of an alt control game that focuses on affective tactile experience (squishing the Ghostboi) buttondown.com/Bathysphere/...

I recently showcased Blok Tower at the Jeugd Film Festival in Antwerp, Belgium. Blok Tower is a stackable synth where you stack cubes to make music. I really enjoyed designing the custom connections between the cubes and making them pass information to one another.

I didn't expect the new aesthetic of fascism to be AI generated Studio Ghibli.

Building a tall tower! Over the past couple of months, I've been working on making a stackable synth where you can stack some cubes on top of one another and make some weird music! Tomorrow, I'll be taking this to the XL-medialab at the Youth Film Festival Antwerp.

Finally! There is better cohesion between the stacking mechanism in place and the audio changes.

I finally have the stacking mechanism in place!

maybe I don’t need to tell anyone in the games world but tolerance of ‘uncertainty’/‘ambiguity’ in a story, or ‘not understanding’ a story is at an all time low with audiences. besides erosion of critical reading by fascism it is because fascism has obliterated people’s comfort levels and attention

I really really need you guys to make a conscious rejection of generative AI tools part of your ongoing political resistance. Don't use ChatGPT. Turn off Gemini. Don't read the AI results forced upon you at the top of Google search. Don't use AI art generators or support anyone who does. Please.

Please wishlist our gay ass trans ass “DEI”-ass puzzle-ass game so I can finally rest, please. 🐰 Wishlisting is the best free way to support an indie game, especially self-published like ours! This will live or die on word of mouth! DECIDE OUR FATE bit.ly/WishlistSpiritSwap

Stackable synth prototype in progress . . .

GenAI has polluted image search results, especially for animal pics. It’s now basically impossible to find accurate art references. Enter this: a repository of open-access, AI-free images of wild & exotic taxa. Artists creating *without AI* have blanket permission for derivative/transformative use.

Self soothing with soft colours and barbarians. Amazing how just making something, even a little sketch, helps ease the feeling of being unmoored.

I want to share my experience today with Google support, trying to get Gemini (their AI/plagiarism machine) turned off in my Google workspace account. That account is where I personally do all my work communication—I am an editor, and most of my work contracts explicitly ban any use of Generative AI

Wrapping up a piece I started over the summer. Maybe I should get a good art scanner haha.

My Asterism CDs are ready to go! So cool to be able to hold the album in my hands! I've got them on pre-order now, and they'll be releasing on the 17th Jan at the same time as the game / digital album! Take a look at the preview tracks on bandcamp! shimmerglitch.bandcamp.com/album/asterism

why the fuck would i want realistic graphics. i can see real things just by opening my fucking eyes. i want to see 1000 different interpretations of the world. show me what makes each thing a thing

An animated gif of a biblically accurate cat. I made this around Christmas time a couple of years ago and wanted to capture a cozy winter mood.

It's finally done! 🤍✨ I've tagged and archived ALL 670+ of our free pose references! These are the references you see me post to socials, including our Pinterest. This library will be updated each pack launch, and more filters will be added. It's just a little library for now, but she'll grow.

Open Hardware Summit is around the corner and it's IN EUROPE! Wohoo! So submit all your cool talks, art and everything else until Dec 22nd! docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F... @oshwassociation.bsky.social

As a lecturer trying to navigate student AI use for assignments, I find these ideas really helpful!

It's now six-thousand dollars to 50% funded! This game cannot get made without your support, because none of the publishers want to take up a Palestinian-made narrative game about a historical ethnic cleansing. Without you, it doesn't happen.

I really enjoyed making the glitchy effects! Thank you for inviting me to participate in this year!

It’s feeling cold and chilly here in the UK, but it’s not quite snowy enough… Julia Makivic (@jmakivic.bsky.social) has a solution for that behind today’s advent door, but she needs your help. Glitch through today's calendar door to find out what's going on: adventjs.itch.io/adventjs-2024

The Advent.js calendar is live!! Fill your holiday season with some short and sweet creative coding projects!

Thank you so much for featuring me @shimmerglitch.bsky.social

Finally returning to blender.
