We're going to build streets for people

This is literally the street I live on. I can’t stress enough how much of an improvement this has made to my life.

Chicago ward offices: take notes. This is how you empower your constituents to help shape their communities. Ward 44 is helping Lakeview residents navigate the complicated, obscure, but important world of neighborhood associations by including this graphic in their newsletter. More of this!

Yesterday, during a meeting to approve 349 homes (70 affordable), one lady who opposed the new homes said “I bought a condo here in 1979 and I wouldn’t have it any other way.” I don’t think she has a clue what condo prices (or rent) in the neighborhood cost now.

One thing the US failed to address in any sort of meaningful way over the past 4 years: The housing crisis. Young and even middle-age people are increasingly cut out of homebuying. Situation likely to worsen in coming 4 years with tariffs, deportation of immigrants, & high interest rates.

PSA to birders and environmentalists everywhere: please stop weaponizing bird strikes as a reason to oppose apartment buildings. You’re doing more harm than good. Dense housing prevents urban sprawl. It prevents climate change. It prevents bird deaths.

Brickmason appreciation post. This is the same building on Sheffield Ave, 41 days apart:

I also found @mollyfleck.bsky.social’s courtyard ice rink. Such a gorgeous location! (Help me fight climate change so we can save pond hockey seasons!)

The good news is i saved you 60 billion dollars. The bad news is that is a typo i saved you 600 dollars and also your plane is falling out of the sky

Guess where in Chicago I am

Read this article.

This is a great idea. Illinois needs fewer governments. Why, you ask? Because we have SO MANY that there is no precise way to count them. The more governments, the harder it is to for the public to pay attention. And without robust oversight, we’ll never rein in corruption.

Chicago Mayor introduces city ordinance to council to create a social housing organization. Org is modeled on Montgomery County, MD's effort, with goal of creating affordable, mixed-income, environmentally sustainable hsg. Council could fund the org with receipts from city bonds passed in 2024.

NIMBYs are pushing back HARD against the Broadway rezoning, so it's time to make your voice heard! Send a letter to Ciere Boatright (DPD Commissioner) and Laura Flores (Chicago Plan Commission Chair) to let them know you support the Broadway Land Use Framework. secure.everyaction.com/J4fb-l-pHk2Z...

"I wonder what this relatively small account that Elon Musk follows is?" "Oh I see, it just posts porn and Nazism only."

Shoutout to this NIMBY for some honesty 😂

Spent yesterday exploring Albany Park / Ravenswood Manor. Lovely transit-oriented communities here!

This is so frustrating.

Red/brown line service is abysmal today

I’m sharing this article to my neighborhood association’s Facebook group. Wish me luck! design.newcity.com/2025/02/14/a...

Glad we're headed in the right direction!

Saw some dudes at Lincoln Park’s North Pond hockey area, but they were setting up a tennis net on the ice. I didnt stay to watch them play….but it seems very chaotic and fun

psst spam the old town NIMBY survey with supportive comments so they can't claim the community opposes the development based on a biased sample www.surveymonkey.com/r/36XTPR6
