People elected hate, division, and fascism, expecting that there would be consequences only for people they deem unworthy. That’s not the way hate, division, and fascism work. I’m not sure I can be empathetic when they start to cry about the unintended consequences.

I was a senior in high school when this came out. Ten years ago, when it played in theaters for its 30th anniversary, I took my then 16-year-old. I was one of a theater full of middle-aged women there with our teenagers. Flawed movie, yes, but it still resonates. Absolute classic.
