Dear Manager, 1. I drank a whiskey drink. 2. I drank a vodka drink. 3. I drank a lager drink. 4. I drank a cider drink. 5. I sang the songs that remind me of the good times; I sang the songs that remind me of the better times.

Nerd heaven today. FIRST Tech Challenge NorCal Championship. Watching teams of all races, all genders in friendly competition with robots they built. This is our future and they give us promise! (Our team isn’t gave a great day though)

Dear Manager, It’s hard to tell you what I did this week. It’s a whole lot easier to tell you what I will never do. You know what that is? 1) give you up 2) let you down 3) run around 4) desert you 5) tell a lie, hurt you

Spring is starting!

If you’re overwhelmed and maybe a lil paralyzed by the news, maybe take a little time this weekend to figure out how to take care of yourself moving forward? 🧪 www.scientificamerican.com/article/feel...

This weekend, be sure to do something enjoyable. Part of my time will be reading the latest story from Kaylie Saidin. I may be biased, but I think she's a great writer and someone to watch! issuu.com/eastcarolina...

I don't think the Dems can stop the firings. But why aren't they proposing legislation that assures those that took the buyout get paid , and that all that are fired, get at least a year severance and health benefits? And any one with a health condition is covered the entire time they are sick?

Here are some data documenting the funding "pause" pulled from NIH Reporter. Current results (FY25) (Red) are compared with results from FY21 (first year of Biden Administration) and FY24. Note that data from Reporter lag behind release of NoAs by ~1 week. I will be tracking this going forward.

Treated myself to a massage last night. Massage therapist knows what my job involves. He observed that my upper back "was like a brick" holding the stress of the past few weeks... (Take care of ourselves, that's the message. Except when a leopard eats a face, then be snarky.)

I offer my gratitude to Danielle Sassoon, who resigned from her position as Interim US Attorney for the SDNY after being ordered to dismiss the indictment against Mayor Adams. She is a Federalist & a Scalia Clerk. She resigned out of fealty to the oath sworn by all DOJ attorneys, not politics.

Here are some facts about "facilities and administrative" (F&A) costs, what we in the business call "indirects" and what Musk is calling "overhead" as he tries to convince Americans with being ok with cutting billions on dollars from medical and public health research at universities & hospitals 1/

Midwives play an important role in providing birth-related care that is centered on parents' needs and wishes. The health care system too often gets in the way of practices that can improve birth outcomes. Learn more in our new Issue Brief! @chcfnews.bsky.social www.chcf.org/wp-content/u...

In a week of general horribleness, I'm happy that I was able to make offers to two post-doc candidates, for whom I feel confident the funding will be secure for two years. One said yes and I'm optimistic the other will, too. Both are brilliant. I have to look for the little wins right now.

Let's all say it out loud. These people are fascists & this is a fascist take-over of the United States. You can couch your words more carefully, but the speed and ferocity of what is happening now is part-and-parcel of a coup. The GOP in Congress has surrendered. The Dems are out of their depth. 1/
