See, I held back this particular conspiracy theory of mine. Like why the hell would El Salvador care about any of this? But you have to remember who Trump is. He solves problems by making deals. He said what's it gonna cost me to disappear some people. El Salvador had a price.

Got a new one today when the press secretary accused him of being a "human trafficker" just absolutely out of thin air!

"Look how do you EXPECT us to engage in ethnic cleansing if we play by the rules" is not actually a good argument

"It's not that my heart's not in it. It's that my heart is in everything." sarahkendzior.substack.com/p/the-miners

We as a society need to have a reckoning with the idea that "playing by the rules means I can't do what I want to" is an excuse to ignore the rules. It isn't: it means you can't do what you want to. - OpenAI illegally scraping - Meta saying "it's impractical to moderate at scale" - this

Man if only the guy in charge before Trump had done something to ensure that an insurrectionist with open plans to dismantle the US federal government had no means of doing so

There is a model of reporting that grants anonymity for people to say shitty things about people. There is another model of reporting that grants anonymity to secure information for the public that isn't otherwise public. The former protects people in power; the latter challenges those in power.

I am heartbroken. What a deep disgrace to the UK.

Just so we’re clear, everybody calling Kilmar Abrego Garcia a “terrorist” or a “gang member” are lying, and they know they’re lying, and they repeat it for purposes of confusing people who don’t follow this stuff closely into accepting what was done to him.

Wow it’s almost as if this was an entirely predictable outcome, you fools

The Korean parliament vowed to impeach their president EVERY WEEK until his party either stopped protecting him or the guy resigned in disgrace. No other business could proceed until they got rid of the attempted dictator.

I. Don't. Give. A. Shit. if he's a gang member (which is what they're redefining as "terrorist") NOBODY should be trafficked into foreign slave labor camps. Not good people! Not bad people! Nobody! With, or without due process!

I just landed in San Salvador a little while ago, and I look forward to meeting with the team at the U.S. embassy to discuss the release of Mr. Abrego Garcia. I also hope to meet with Salvadoran officials and with Kilmar himself. He was illegally abducted and needs to come home.

As an American Jew, just about the only thing I can say about my identity right now is that my mind is thoroughly fucked. @marisakabas.bsky.social does a great job explaining why:

Everything in this is gross, but I just want to say that “Loser Shit” is a great name for a podcast, and it doesn’t look like it’s taken.

Article seems to attempt to rewrite the jab as exclusively at Elon, not in attendance, when Zuckerberg et al are right there in the room and he appears to say "others in this room"

makes sense. what the administration wants more than anything is to completely pollute the information environment with as much nonsense and propaganda as they and their allies, foreign and domestic, can pump out

Kilmar Abrego Garcia is an innocent man ripped from his wife & 3 disabled kids by state kidnapping Sen Van Hollen has announced that he will go to El Salvador to try and secure KAG’s release if he has to call YOUR senators & tell them to step up! capitol switchboard: (202) 224-3121

AOC: Donald Trump is a criminal. He was found guilty of 34 felony counts of fraud, found liable for sexual abuse. If he wants to find the rapists and criminals in this country, he should look in the mirror

The Russians went to all the trouble to try to gift the US ambassador a wooden carved Great Seal of the United States for his home, meanwhile the PRC must be having a field day.

it’s really wild how many men respond to a femme person who is dressed up and wearing makeup as if you are a pumpkin put into their tiger enclosure

I am *horrified* by Sam Altman's suggestion that ethical AI limits can be gathered through AI itself being used to scale out having conversations with hundreds of millions of human users of OpenAI products and it being a matter of majority consensus mediated through his machine. Ethics is a field!

This is what is needed. AOC & Bernie going deep into Republican territory tonight in Bakersfield, CA. Every seat filled. #FightOligarchy

Bonkers. This is a great example of why I keep saying that no one should just accept the government's word as fact. It is run by flawed people who aren't inherently trustworthy—which is something conservatives used to understand. Once again, due process matters.

When the musk/China battle plans leaked I automatically assumed it was a senior career official or general, not one of Hegseth’s senior advisers

Out of court. Fascinating to see Judge Xinis in action. My read is that she’s FAST losing patience with the defendants, and skeptical that they will comply with her orders in “good faith” (a phrase she used many times, pointedly). She’ll keep trying, but now she’s building a record for contempt.

This country is becoming unrecognizable. What we’re seeing is state-funded fear. We’ve warned people: keep filming, go live on social media so these moments are documented and shared. This wasn’t a case involving masked ICE agents—but that’s happening too.

If there's a political solution to the current situation AOC is part of it.

"While spikes in police criticism did occur after high-profile incidents, such as the murder of George Floyd in 2020, the study found that these increases were temporary... In fact, since 2020, local reporting supporting the idea that police are effective has slightly increased."

Trying to dunk on Democrats for opposing Trump's extrajudicial, illegal kidnapping of people to send to foreign gulags is a WILD stance to take

The guy who admitted it was a mistake gets fired for not lying in court.

Thank you momma !

The New York Times has obtained the autopsies of the Palestinian medics massacred by the Israeli occupation army. They show that some were shot point blank in the skull.

A very long time after the dismal fact, Chuck Todd admits to himself that "both sides," and talking points journalism are indeed thin gruel. www.mediaite.com/podcasts/chu... He says he's now into local. [My description of a shuddering Todd from five years ago: pressthink.org/2019/12/the-... ]

there's so many layers of fraud and abuse in this story that "someone might have been trying to log into the NLRB's systems with a valid Doge username and password from russia" doesn't even make it into the first 5,000 words

There’s just so much shady shit in this story, but this really sticks out. Folks in NLRB’s IT unit were so freaked out by what they saw DOGE doing that they wanted to notify the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. Then this happened:
