There is an underwater megalophobia moment in @tensori.fi new beta level for Pools that I think people are going to be talking about for a while. Great stuff.

If you went back to 1995 let's say and told a large, diverse group of comic fans that following pairs of comic book characters would be played by the same person, which one would surprise them the most. The Penguin / Bullseye Bane / Venom Batman / Daredevil Green Lantern / Deadpool Other #comics

Computers geeks in our 40s and later talk a lot of crap about younger computer users, but goddamn we really bought a lot of "RAM Doubling" software back in the day. #retrocomputing #retrocomputers

"But Trump still hasn't to live with the stain of being a felon! Stain! STAIN I SAY!" Seriously my friends do you think any of his followers care?

My favorite retro gaming fact. The classic "SEGA" opening title scream with the voice yelling Sega... took up a full 1/8th of the space on the original Sonic the Hedgehog cartridge. That's why most games used the standard generic soundless Sega Logo #sonic #sega #retrogaming.

Somewhere in the Venn Diagram of Elite, Starflight, Starstruck Vagabond, Starfield, Mass Effect, a dozen others we've come so close to having all the parts of the perfect space exploration game a part of my brain needs to play.

The video game Stubbs the Zombie and the film Hoot have two of the most under the radar legit great soundtracks of all time. #music #soundtracks #videogamemusic

As the simple, raw amount of media out there continues to further rapidly outpace what a single human could ever hope to consume the people who define themselves via what they haven't seen are going to become even more insufferable.

Multiple threads on Reddit trying to identify the source of the below image. Any one got any leads? #comics #horror #horrorcomics #retrocomics

Was the "No I wanted in Pretty in Pink Molly Ringwald, not Sweet Seventeen Molly Ringwald!" mystery ever solved?

Someone explain to me why Liberals have an easier time figuring out what evil thing the Republicans have planned when they are speaking in dog whistle code then when the Republicans are just like "So this is what we are gonna do...." It's like you understand code better than... like language.

"No don't take your child's new console out and run all the updates so they can actually play games on Christmas morning, because sitting there watching 90.4 gigabytes of updates install is part of the experience!" Man some of ya'll are just performatively stupid. #gaming.

ProtonDB down for anybody else? Both the Steam Deck plugin and website won't pull up any game info for me. #steamdeck #linux #gamingonlinux

Who owns the rights to Topps Comics at this point? There are some goddamn gems in that back catalog; the KirbyVerse, Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, and a LOT of solid movie adapations and expanded universes including the Jurassic Park comics, Xenia, X-files, etc all just falling into obscurity. #comics

Do younger gamers "get' how much an industry shift the simple concept of "scrolling" was? The entire first gen, gen and a half or so of video games were static, single screens. Basically all the gameplay elements were there on the first screen you saw, more or less. #gaming (cont)

Game Publishers. If you were to run an ad showing real time, unaltered, HONEST game footage with the caption "Footage captured on a 500 dollar PC" or "Footage captured on a Steam Deck" EVEN IF THE GRAPHICS ARE NOTICEABLY DOWNGRADED I would be much more likely to purchase your game. #gaming

Streaming Services. Not once ever in the history of this and all possible parallel universe has anyone clicked on the "Do you want to finish watching this show?" button when was it left in the show is the last 14 seconds of the credits.

Doomer sports fans who think they are providing some valuable service to the team by always predicting/assuming the worst and finding anything and everything to complain about because they think it works as some kind of reverse jinx are goddamn insufferable.

I think it's super weird that the highest (Mt. Whitney, 14,505 Feet) and the lowest (Badwater Basin, Death Valley, -282 Feet) points in the contiguous US are both in California, both in the same COUNTY, only 85 miles apart as the crow flies, and only about a two and half hour drive from each other.

NHL "We're trying to grow the league!" Also the NHL "Today's game is on ESPN, tomorrow's is on TNT, the one after that is streaming only on Microsoft Zunes, the one after that is a Fortnite Campaign, and the one after that is only be told around the campfire by a tribe in the Amazon." #NHL #Hockey

Reads yet another "Gaming is the least sexy and least desirable hobby a man can have" poll/hot take. Looks down at the Steam Deck in my hand on which I'm currently playing Elden Ring, then over at my absolute smoke show of a wife playing Breath of the Wild on her Switch. Shakes my head. #gaming

I can't help but feel that society never fully recovered from the fact that we let the 90s happen, continue, and come to an end without ever demanding Oasis explain to us what exactly a fucking "Champagne Supernova" was.

Those weird cup salads at McDonalds years ago were fucking peak fast food and I'm tired of pretending otherwise.

It legit scares me how literally every person in a position of power or influence that doesn't like Trump also acts like they've never encountered a troll before and have no idea how to deal with one. "I keep shaming him and telling him the rules say he can't do that and it's not working!"

I know it's very "Okay Grandpa" but even today sometimes I'll glance down at my phone, Chromebook, Kindle, and Steam Deck it will just hit me how much media I can literally carry with me. Like more media then I OWNED for the first 20 years of my life fits in a small backpack with space to spare.

At the end of the day my broken mental state boils down to this. I'm not smart enough for this many people to be this much dumber than me. I'm not good enough for this many people to be this much more evil than me.

It's not totally absent from the discourse, but one thing I think a lot of gamers younger than about 30 give or take, truly don't get because it makes absolutely no sense in any modern context is that until about 1995 or so "Computer Game" and "Video Game" were VERY different things. #gaming

Toejam & Earl, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Ghoul Patrol, etc. What genre would you call them? Top down exploration action games with key and item hunts, usually very wacky, mostly in the 16 bit era? #gaming #retrogaming

Starflight on the Sega Genesis was a lynchpin game for me. The first game I truly enjoyed for its depth instead of in the moment "fun." A still shockingly deep and good space sim that had no reason to be as good as it was on a 16 bit console. #starflight #gaming #retrogaming

Peeps. Do we, as a society, need to put everything else on hold until we decide how big Uno needs to be?

I won't say "Opinions you only encounter on the internet don't count." I absolutely WILL say that you have to, fucking HAVE to factor opinions you only encounter on the internet into your world view in radically different ways if you want anything even resembling an honest or accurate one.

I'm sorry but the Bill Bellchik news is functionally insane. This isn't some heartwarming story of a pro-sport coach going into semi-retirement and coaching a Little League team on the side. Our Public Universities are a defacto sports league and we should not be okay with that.

You could show this screenshot to 100 people and let them guess 100 times and I am metaphysically certain they would not guess the universally recognized character this is the origin story of.

Kesha's "Holiday Road" is amazing.

Happy Birthday to my gorgeous wife.

Genie: "Okay you got three wishes and you know the three rules. No wishing for more wishes, no wishing for anyone to die, and no wishing for someone to fall in love with you." Me: "I wish we had baby eyes that fell out and get replaced like baby teeth." Genie: (Long Pause) "There are four rules..."

I might be stuck like this until the game starts. #canes #raiseup

I get that I'm Gen-X and in that absolute perfect "Grew up analog, hit adulthood as digital grew" age but sometimes I look down at the simple amount of STUFF available on my Kindle, Steam Deck, Chromebook, and Phone. Small enough to throw in a bag. (Cont)

Peeps from outside the USA. Honest feedback. How weird is American Style College Sports.
