Another long day shooting fairly complicated technical scripts on location with a great team. Drones died, dogs barked, sun shone but we made it up to Edinburgh Castle and the big man even tried Haggis.

This week: international travel > In Scotland where the breakfasts come with tattie scones, there is always irn bru and tunnocks in the snack cupboard and a pint of Tennants at the end of the day.

Very well informed update for Hullensians on big projects happening/not happening around the city. I skew ‘glass-half-full’: we’ve had construction time lapse cameras running on a few of these big private investment projects over the past couple of years so can see ‘the cranes on the skyline’

Within 5 minutes of listing your car on auto trader I guarantee you will be fending off the numpties.

Dean reading his poems should be shared far and wide

I was filming something yesterday (a public work of art) in the beautiful sunshine we were having, but the speed of the sun’s low traverse across the sky was astonishing. Sculpture was in complete shadow of a building when we arrived and cleared 3” in about 5 minutes till it was in full sun.

I don’t think dual zone temperature controls make any difference. It’s the same temperature both sides of the car. We should just have one control for both sides.

This is fantastic, so many amazing acts and so well edited - the ultimate SNL mash up. I do like Saturday Night Live.

When to a very intense sort of jumble sale this morning. But based on swops. Like an organised swop shop. There was a lot of focus. Imagine the racks at TK Maxx but much higher stakes.

Chin up, only 2 weeks of January left now

Saw ‘A Complete Unknown’, beautifully shot, of course great music, very cool.

I really enjoyed making these short films on Hessle Road with Alec and lining up his fantastic photos from the ‘70s. There is a gap in documenting the everyday and then it’s lost, gone - if not for Alec’s pictures.

How Has Hessle Road Changed? Half way between Hull and Hessle, photographer and author Dr Alec Gill takes a fresh look at one of his vintage photographs. curiosityhull.co.uk/how-has-hess... @hulllibraries.bsky.social

The Hotel in Essex had the most narrow corridor…

There had been more travel! The last few days have included a video case study testimonial in Essex (with drone and v. cold), a train ride deep into central London for a 3 camera ‘in conversation’ set up and today to the ASTOUNDING Wynyard Hall in Co Durham.

Civil War on Amazon Prime is very good. Alex Garland innit. Got to the end credits and was like, ah yes now I remember.

Is Doncaster station ever anything but fridgid and in twilight? Twi-lit. In the light of twi.

The solitaire game on my phone sometimes has a pop up, and the only way to close it is a button labelled ‘Awesome’, which I resent disproportionately.

I have finally made up my mind, once and for all… … Use Your Illusion II

Never the Hootenanny

Day 4279 of the Christmas Holidays. Bins are all full and yesterday I ate a croissant filled with Brie.

Turkey sandwiches, breakfast of champions

I forgot to cook 36 pigs in blankets yesterday. Thirty six.

No cheating: your last saved pic of a celebrity is your therapist.

Can anyone guess where I am from this pic?

Me and Jon on the road again. Stayed at a premiere inn next to a dual carriageway so no travel stories today, but here is a picture the nice waitress at breakfast took for us.

Skeleton Crew ET homage gen x nostalgia really making me want to watch an adaptation of Iain M Banks Culture novels. Would love to see Flere-Imsaho and Mawhrin-Skel and ring worlds and Minds and everything on screen.
