That rarest of texts: "Robbinsdale schools closed due to winter storm. No school, no e-learning, no activities. Stay safe!" #mnwx

Iambic hexameter is truly cursed verse

God damn it Joann Fabrics is going out of business

A sudden warmup has melted nearly all our hard-earned snow cover just since yesterday. #mnwx

How do people who make video content imagine that their pets are interesting to others? Like, they will interrupt their video to show their pet that just walked in. Buddy you can edit that out. Imagine people with actual children doing that nonsense.

I have a soft spot for TUI interfaces but I'm struggling to imagine a case where it's actually better than a GUI (at least for apps running locally on your laptop). Data density, discoverability, typography are all better on a GUI and a TUI is no less complicated to code/maintain.

I don't care how funny, or weird, or clever, or brazen and demanding, or overly familiar, your cold sales emails are. I will not respond. You never had any claim on my attention. Your email would ideally never have reached me.

First person to use AI to finally make a (probably very creepy) full length movie version of the Horse and His Boy…wins

If you switch to a new Mac using migration assistant it will not migrate everything in your macOS keychain. Found this out when I went to ssh to a server from the new laptop and it prompted me for a password I hadn't had to type since the Obama administration.

I've already canceled at least two big trips this year mainly because of airline safety concerns. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Feels like our long run of baseline flawless air travel is abruptly over, not something you can count on anymore.

A big thing on TikTok right now is people telling each other not to file taxes because the IRS will probably be gone soon

Taking another crack at finishing Return of the Obra Dinn. Can't get it out of my head that someone needs to do a short mashup/edit of this game with the "Dumb Ways to Die" song

I love it when the snowfall arrives on the weekend for a change. Cozy day for a workout, some light house cleaning, and setting up a new desk and laptop. #mnwx

Sky on fire near the airport. #mnwx

You know a social network has the juice when you’re tempted to do wit arbitrage between it and Instagram

I got my current home office desk from IKEA way back in the 2000s when I still lived at home. Finally at the place in life where I can upgrade to a new, different IKEA desk.

My daughter just told me the fake manosphere podcast they roleplay on the school bus. Her character is named Chad Gareth. Topics include red meat and macro (sic) plastics. The kids are going to be alright.

You can't see it, but my nose froze shut. #mnwx

Finally published the style guide for my website. Well, part of it.

It's -13°F outside, so by ancient custom I must invite you to view my website which turns purple when it gets this cold:

Next issue of "Port Watchers", my small, low-freq. email newsletter, is going out tomorrow morning. I'll be previewing a fun web/Racket project I'm working on, and that's the only place I'll be talking about it for a while yet.

Nerds gummy clusters

Me: burns 129 cryptids, plays a single steel red-seal king, and summons more galaxies full of supermassive black holes than there are atoms in the visible universe Dealer: prepares to count out my $5

More light snow; it's a lot prettier when it isn't extending a 30 minute commute to a 90 minute one.

The Vikes buying $2m worth of extra seats for this important away game at Detroit is how I know they're going to lose.

Why is gen epsilon afraid of gen zeta? Because gen zeta eta gen theta

Couch that looks great and is super comfortable

The snow is gone but we have a dense fog advisory. #mnwx

I don't know where the Jenny LeClue sequel is at, but I need it to link up somehow with Disco Elysium

Just what Santa loves, milk that's been sitting out by the fire for hours

I ran the browserbench speedometer 3.0 on an M4 max MacBook Pro in the store a couple days ago. It scored 48, nearly twice as fast as the 25 I get on my M1 Max.

Presents wrapped. We were smart this year and didn't wait until Christmas Eve.
