Ppl need to understand that book/comic advances are given in 2-3 chunks over the course of however long it takes to finish the book. They’re not a lump-sum. Say it takes 3 yrs to make one. 350 / 3 = 116k per yr. That’s enough to write fulltime w/out needing a day job. The average advance is <$75k.

Here's another tip for comics writers: If you remove the characters' names from their corresponding dialogue lines, can you still tell who's saying what? If a line sounds like any character could have said it, make the chars' speaking styles more distinct, to add some "voice" to your script.

The part that really rings true for me as a comic creator is: “A sentence should contain no unnecessary words” I am famously verbose among my IRL friends, and it’s a daily struggle to work w/ the constraints of what words will fit in speech bubbles. But being concise has made me a better writer.

I've seen a few people mention (one to me) others before and now today that libraries are advocating free stuff/not sales for the author. Libraries don't acquire books by magic. They buy copies with money. It can be hundreds/thousands of sales. People pay taxes to use the library. Nothing is free.
