This is today!

I really believe that the only way to fight this is to mobilize people to build something better, more ambitious, more just than ever existed in the first place. We won’t get there with egg prices.

On Friday, February 21st at 4pm, @marymullen.bsky.social and I are leading a workshop on writing groups. (This event is under the auspices of the 1819 social/ @ksaacomm.bsky.social) It will be pretty fun and very useful, just like writing groups are! Here's the info, including registration link--

Good news! My beloved little wonder book is freshly published by @cambridgeup.bsky.social ! Digital access is available for free through 27 Feb 2025. Please share! Please welcome this beauty into the world! #C18L #18thcentury DOI: doi.org/10.1017/9781...

Already on my fall syllabus!

starting the day right: reading about Samuel Pepys's account of children playing "light as a feather, stiff as a board"

I’m thinking about how last summer I grew so many dahlias that I ran out of vases, started using water glasses, and then gave up on cutting them all. Now all those tubers are slumbering quietly in a cardboard box in the basement, just waiting.

when I was a grad student, a professor told me that it takes a year or two to break a department and a decade or two to rebuild one that was broken. I’ve seen this to be true in departments—and also just about everywhere.
