In retrospect, Section 230, which gave social media immunity from liability for the content third parties publish on their commercial websites and apps, was where our democracy failed. Russia targeted people with misinformation. Facebook profited knowingly.

It is notable that Big Law is completely absent from the legal fights to protect democracy. In 2017, they bragged about their pro bono work for the resistance. Now, they are silent -presumably cowering in fear of Trump and Musk. Support the non-profit law orgs and small firms doing this hard work.
