This is depressing. I post regular little videos to TikTok trying to promote cycling and maybe sell the odd book and they get virtually no traffic. I then post this random video and it goes viral and attracts the comments of every conspiracy theorist on the planet. vm.tiktok.com/ZNdJAkd22/

Temu and Shein are flying between 4,000 to 5,000 tons of goods worldwide daily. That’s the equivalent of 100 Boeing 777 freight flights, carrying a lot of low-value impulse purchases and delivering them directly to our homes for less than the cost of a first-class stamp. www.gfsb.gi/thrive/consc...

Amazing to see the UK media all singing from the same hymn sheet and taking a co-ordinated stand against the government's stance on AI.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social - the greatest compliment I've ever received after someone has read (not listened to) one of my books is that the reader could hear my voice as they read.

Yesterday, I ate a whole packet of Chocolate Caramel Digestives in one go while sat at my desk chasing deadlines. Today, I'm cycling the long way to work. I think this is what they call work/life balance.

Enjoying the pace of Hugh Dennis and @realbaddiel.bsky.social cycling adventure across France on @channel4tv.bsky.social. Makes me think I need to slow down and enjoy the view more on my rides across Europe. If only I had more time. Until then... I'll leep pushing on.

Suddenly a wee spike (nothing to get too excited by) in sales of Follow the Blue Line: Cycling the Algarve from the US. I know the Canadians love Portugal. Have the Americans caught on? Anyone flying over the Atlantic to cycle the EcoVia this summer?

A gentle reminder to all solo cyclists going on long rides in remote locations - please share your location with friends or family. Very easily done on Google Maps.

Not the most scenic of ride routes, but grateful for the feeling the sun on my face, first blue skies of the year and the opportunity to wear fingerless gloves. How was your day?

Absolutely no truth to the rumour that the peloton used my book (link in bio) as a guide to the route into Lagos. Happy to joke about this because nobody got hurt. What a nightmare finish to a ride. youtu.be/qXB7fRGazKE?...

Can happen to the best of us. I've always found the route out of Portimão tricky. www.theguardian.com/sport/2025/f...

Controversial opinion: The last Bond movie worth watching was Moonraker in 1979. www.theguardian.com/film/2025/fe...

Enjoying a wee spike in sales of Follow The Blue Line: Cycling The Algarve (link in bio). The only thing I'm doing differently is sharing my story here on Bsky. So cool to be part of such an engaged community.

The most helpful thing you can do for a small business. If you can't say "yes", please say "no".

Love this. I really miss cycling to school with my daughter. It was a great time to catch up, talk rubbish, play games, sing songs, and enjoy a bit of quality father/daughter time - not to mention the stealth exercise. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Prioritise friends, family, and adventures. Take that vacation, go to that gig, go for that bike ride. Work is just a means to an end. #EasierSaidThanDone

Any other cyclists out there who enjoy putting the distance in (50-100+ miles) but are happy to take all day to do it?

Why is physical inactivity such a big problem in England? Are people too busy, too lazy, or too scared to leave their cars?

Poor diet, mass inactivity and soaring obesity. What a time to be alive. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

Any Canadian cyclists on here planning on riding bikes in Portugal? After the UK, Canada is my second biggest market for Follow the Blue Line: Cycling the Algarve. I'm guessing the sunshine helps - right?

Enjoying Hugh Dennis & @realbaddiel.bsky.social's Two Men on a Bike, but thinking it looks a little too easy & could do with more detail about the ride. Wondering when @channel4tv.bsky.social are going to read my book (link in bio) & commisson a show about one of my more miserable mini-adventures?

While it’s easy to get caught up in terminology like machine learning and behavioural analytics, the most important thing a modern-day marketer should remember when creating “sticky” content is to think like a human being (you are one, so that shouldn’t be too hard). emfluence.com/blog/the-new...

Checking your bank balance when you've got kids at University in London feels a bit like this.

The power of content goes far beyond the role of the Search Engine Optimization strategy it is often solely deployed as. Great content showcases your products, answers questions and solves your customers’ problems. It also has the power to drive significant revenues. emfluence.com/blog/using-a...

It should come as no surprise that the companies most complained about in this survey are some of the biggest names in global business, from the worlds of e-commerce, digital services, food delivery, social media, and retail. help-center.pissedconsumer.com/consumer-tre...

Interesting conversation re. why big brands are so slow to come on board with @bsky.app. Because they can't pay to game the system, they have to work harder to be seen to be authentic - and most just aren't.

If my years in the newspaper industry taught me one thing, it’s this: Content doesn’t get better with age. becomingtheexpert.substack.com/p/stop-sitti...

I'm re-sharing this off-season article because the good people at @justgiving.bsky.social reminded me that I need to tell more people that I'm riding the @thebhf.bsky.social London to Brighton event in June. Here's how I found out I'd been entered. becomingtheexpert.substack.com/p/the-charit...

Great advice from Mark Beaumont. One of the best podcasts I've listened to in a while. "Just ride. Go Big. Explore. Sleep under the stars (not sure about that one). Speak to strangers and don't think ultra riding has to be event riding." open.spotify.com/episode/14Z1...

Looking forward to this. As lifelong buddies, hopefully @realbaddiel.bsky.social and Hugh Dennis will be able to capture some of the magic that Paul Whitehouse & @bobmort.bsky.social did with Gone Fishing and not just complain about Lycra shorts having a sore arse. www.tvguide.co.uk/schedule/1ae...

Cycle lanes and walkways funded across England today will lead to 43,000 fewer sick days a year, due to the health benefits of increased active travel, easing pressure on the NHS and helping people live happier and healthier lives. www.gov.uk/government/n...

I know I haven't got it in me to circumnavigate the globe like my cycling hereos Mark Beaumont or Jenny Graham - but surely I can do this? Added the Velo 8 ride to the bucket list. Maybe one day. Encourage me.

Throwback to last year's solo ride across the Algarve. Due to flight times, I cycled from Faro to VRSA on Day 1, took the train back to Faro on Day 2 before cycling on to Portimao, then to the end and back to Lagos on Day 3. Check out the link in my bio for more adventures. vm.tiktok.com/ZGdUXyNQ5/

How far can you go on a packet of jelly babies?

Bikepacking has the ability to turn everyday people into legends. Loving following this dude's journey from the UK to Oz by bike. Maybe one day I'll aspire to something as gnarly. Until then - it's all about those mini-adventures (book link in bio). youtube.com/shorts/d1_um...

I can't be the only one here riding a entry level road bike, purchased for £300 in 2019, kept going with spare parts off eBay, and still doing regular 50-100 mile rides across the UK/EU with zero ****s given about FTP, watts, etc. Where is our voice? We should start a podcast.

Your buddy misses their flight. Your bank account is frozen. You find yourself alone and penniless in a foriegn country with a bike and 50 miles between each of your hotels over the next 3 days. It's bloody hot. Find out what i did next (link in bio).

I don't know why I waste so much time online window shopping for bikepacking camping equipment. I know I've got the distance in my legs but haven't got the guts to wildcamp. Hotels all the way for me. Can anyone change my mind.

The first time I cycled Portugal with my friends, they told me they would never do it again. We're now planning our 5th ride across the Algarve together and I for one can't wait. Check out my book about Cycling the Algarve (link in bio).

How Will AI Impact Search and Gated Content? Feed the Beast and Solve More Problems: emfluence.com/blog/how-wil...

AI tools need to be fed high-quality content to stay relevant and appear intelligent. This is because, while AI is incredibly clever, it cannot (yet) deliver an original idea. emfluence.com/blog/how-wil...

Wow! I really hope this happens. I'm guessing it will be more of a Live Aid type experience than a traditional full set gig - but I fully expect to be crying into my coffee after it sells out in seconds on Feb 14th.
