If Nick Saban really opened for the Rolling Stones at Coleman Coliseum, UA’s anti-DEI lawyers would rip up the set list. Paint it Black? Out Gimme Shelter? Out. Brown Sugar? Out Sympathy for the Devil? A-Ok www.al.com/news/2025/05...

America is so busy deifying robber barons that we’re left feeding grandmothers on 10 bucks a day.

This whole anti-DEI witch hunt has run-of-the-mill racists claiming to be constitutional scholars and MLK devotees. When it serves. It’s convenient to see the world in a vacuum. But it’s BS. And speaking of such… youtube.com/shorts/sr6eS...

Some schools fight. But UAB is literally sending checks back to donors, killing scholarships for high-performing Black med students rather than risk wearing the scarlet letters of DEI. And just look who gets called "morally reprehensible."

Good to see @warondumb.bsky.social plugging along as if we still had rules.

To one of the good ones. Congrats Harold Jackson, and thanks from all of those who dare to care for Alabama.

🙂

That's pretty awesome. You got me there at the end. She was a good girl.

Thanks for the tears. 😊

I swore I would never be one of those columnists who writes about me pets. But dammit, sometimes the world needs you to write about your pets. Hope you'll read this one. www.al.com/news/2025/04...

Trump's DOJ has turned Lowndes Co. Ala. into a poster child for DEI. Seems helping one of the poorest counties in America dispose of sewage robs people of "dignity and respect." Let me tell you a little bit about "dignity and respect." Let me tell you about this place. www.al.com/news/2025/04...

Thanks!

Pro tip. Courage in Washington prolly ain't coming from Alabama.

I turned 62 today, which is about as much fun as it sounds. A friend asked “how do you celebrate a sixty-second birthday?” My kid @ramseyarchibald.bsky.social replied: “It only takes a minute.” Pretty good birthday present.

Thank you @johnarchibald.bsky.social for visiting us at @syracuse.com. John’s a 2x Pulitzer winner, columnist, podcaster, author, teacher… the list goes on. You can hear him speak tonight at @lemoynecollege.bsky.social about having fun and kicking ass in journalism: www.lemoyne.edu/event/north-...

Heads up Syracuse. I love this guy.

No offense to zealots, but I don’t want you guys teaching religion to my kids any more than you want me teaching religion to yours.

Spider Martin had a difficult life and died young. People who knew him best said he was often frustrated by not being able to make a solid living off his work, despite being among the most iconic photos in American history. He’s one of Alabama’s unsung heroes and I’m glad this new book is here.

If you have images in your head of Bloody Sunday in Selma, or the Selma-to-Montgomery march that ended at the State Capitol on this day 60 years ago, there’s a good chance they were formed through the lens of Spider Martin.

Palate cleanser. Nina Reeves turns 100 today. In 2022 she was diagnosed with inoperable cancer and refused treatment because, hell, she was 97 and wanted to live it out on her own terms. She even quit hospice because she wanted to do more. She has touched thousands. What a way to live and die.

We live in a world where powerful universities cower like congressmen, afraid to complain lest they lose the clout they are too afraid to fight for. So why not get an old Bama football player to put it down there where the goats can get it?

Hey Mom. You too.

I'd say AI is the devil. But I'm pretty sure the devil can do basic math.

This is gonna be a blast, Syracuse. At least for me. @seankirst.bsky.social is a gem.

I live in a town, and a state, and a country that drives me crazy. Sometimes they'd all rather rip themselves apart than prosper together. Problem is I can't stop loving them. Even when I hate 'em.

Thank you!

Amazing stuff here. Give it a listen.

Alabama wants to make school districts open classes each day with a Judeo-Christian prayer -- or lose millions in revenue.

Take a minute to read and ponder this column from @johnarchibald.bsky.social

Bloody Sunday, 60 years ago today, would've been a massacre w/out meaning but for the response of the U.S. courts, the government and the horror of everyday Americans. www.al.com/news/2025/03...

Wait a minute. Is AI really just me?
