Hands up who had a heart attack seeing the Tories on 483 seats before reading the word "local".

"I've got no problem with 'batter' but 'third man' is a fielding position" moans a man having an argument with an entirely imaginary opponent.

"There will be bar snacks available" turned out to mean "you can buy sausage and chips" which turned out to mean "three sausages and a portion of chips for £5.50"

Genuinely fascinating!

Google Wallet automatically brings up your train ticket at the departure time. A fantastically useful bit of tech undermined by the designers having never encountered a ticket barrier.

I missed this last year. www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

This sounds like a British promoter in 1988 who wants to simultaneously get on TV, attract a crowd and run council venues.

This is a post about universities, though it does seem like an apt description of the way some people view local authority spending.

NHS Blood used to post you a letter with your appointment date and time and a separate sheet with a health check questionnaire. Now, to save money (they say), they post you a letter which doesn't list the appointment date and time and a separate sheet with a health check questionnaire.

One of the many things I love about Canada is that this map makes the election look like a three way tie but the huge blob of orange in the north east is one parliamentary riding out of 343 and was won by the NDP candidate with 2,945 votes

TIL of the Longest Ballot Committee, an anti-FPTP group in Canada who pick a constituency each time and flood it with candidates. The Conservative leader's seat was slow to report this time because it had 91 candidates.

The worst thing about WWE buying AAA is it makes it even more unlilkely we'll ever see a match between McAfee and Virus.

Yeah, I'm not staying up to watch CBC pretend there's an actual candidate called Jean Pierre Pigeon.

But the really important thing is the running seat totals is simply who is ahead in each seat on voted so far, not who has won or is projected to win. So they are currently showing the Conservatives as ahead on a seat after 150 votes are counted.

Reminder you can watch Canadian election results on CBC's YouTube and it is extremely Canadian. Plus they do results from individual polling stations so you'll get updates on somebody being two voted to one ahead. And they have some very Canadian candidates.

As Liverpool win the Premier League for the second time, they complete the opening of a quite remarkable sequence, 33 years in the making. #Fibonacci

Just heard somebody [context hidden for spoilers] say "For X not to win would have been like having a Rocky film where Rocky didn't win." So, like Rocky?

"If there two are our best bowlers we've got no chance, harumph, glad I didn't buy a women's membership, harumph". Mate, these are the opening bowlers. It's the powerplay. You're literally feet away from Charlie Dean and Amanda Jade Wellington.

Love the one dude who's come in the away kit.

WECA is currently looking like the winner will get 7-8% of eligible voters.

You can see the railway line from the upper pavilion at Taunton and as a result there are people trainspotting while at a cricket match. This is peak Englishness.

Significantly varying polls in the same week is pretty Bristol to be fair.

Words cannot describe the sign some kid brought to this wrestling show but it involves a fully accurate and complete Bristol stool chart with a heel's head posted on to each example.

I for one cannot believe that a team that's only finished outside the top three once in six years is going to win the league.

Christ, I just realised/had forgotten the refugee storyline in Years and Years was based around Russia taking over Ukraine.

Unless every country has an opportunity to qualify and win (no matter how unlikely), it's not truly a world cup.

There have only been five TV broadcasts in history that the majority of the UK population watched. Pretty much any show or event you can ever think of that "the nation came together for", most people didn't watch it.

A proportion of my followers will love this.

WrestleMania on Gogglebox tonight. Looking forward to hearing it's all fake from a show that pretends they all have every streaming service and all spontaneously decided to watch a four hour wrestling show this week.

It's so short it's only got two names on it. And one hyphen.

The London Centric team needed an affordable workplace solution today, somewhere that wouldn’t have issues with us sitting on laptops all day but also had lots of desks and on-hand supplies of coffee, food and strong WiFi. Anyway, welcome to WFCC (work from county cricket).

Rita in Coronation Street says she watches ITV 2. This means ITV exists in the Coronation Street Universe. This has significant meta reality implications.
