This is a really important piece. I hope the ACCC is paying attention.

Heck of a job, Trumpy.

Stick with me, kids. I know things.

Shall I be plain? I wish the bastards dead

Regrettably the discourse has degraded to a shouting match between extremists saying Jonathan Cowan should be castrated and extremists saying Jonathan Cowan should be celebrated. It takes a bold iconoclast like me to propose a third way: Jonathan Cowan should be punched in the nuts and then ignored.

They really are the whiniest bunch. And it’s actually diagnostically relevant, if we want to understand their political project: A movement of people who feel victimized by a society they believe owes them constant adulation and deference, whose self-pity inevitably turns to authoritarian cruelty.

This has been bugging me as well. I’ve been pointing out for months that the President lacked legal authority for what he was proposing to do - including in comments to NYT articles! - but it was never mentioned as an important consideration in NYT reporting…as a result NYT readers were misinformed.

Rinehart is going to be a big problem for the Libs. Do what she wants, & you are going to hurt yourself politically. Don’t do what she wants, & she’ll sponsor people to whiteant you. And there’s always the temptation to say “screw winning” & enjoy life as her plaything. www.afr.com/rear-window/...

As I have been trying to tell you people:

The existence of Jordan Peterson admirers reminds us that our understanding of intelligence is inherently relative.

And there it is: Carly Moore only wins 68% of prefs on the last exclusion and the final TCP is 55-45.

No-one asked, but here’s my review of last night’s 4 corners. But tbch, anyone sensible in the party should have declined to participate, and obviously did.

Can a new leader unite the Liberal Party? #4corners investigates

At 10.13pm on election night, 94 seats seemed unbelievable, even if that’s what the numbers were saying.

@kevinbonham.bsky.social and @benraue.com say 91% and call Calwell for Labor. 94 seats.

Abdo got 68.6% of preferences from the Greens exclusion.

Labor almost over the line on the Greens exclusion. The psephs will give us exact numbers, but I think Moore will need something over 90% of Lib preferences (including the 7% of the vote that were not Lib 1st prefs but have flowed through earlier exclusions).

See if you can spot @vincerugari.com in this David Squires cartoon. www.theguardian.com/football/pic...

If you’ll excuse the legal jargon, the technical term for the way the conservative Supreme Court majority tries to distinguish the Federal Reserve from other independent federal agencies is “utter horseshit”. The conservative justices are just pulling stuff out of their arses now.

Wake up, babe! New Calwell exclusion just dropped.

When I reflect on the election outcome, I go back to these two posts that I think spotted what proved to be key dynamics in real time. Some very smart people on this platform!

Yes, i sometimes get tired of the Green Left Crikey vibe, but they also consistently publish really interesting pieces like this one: www.crikey.com.au/2025/05/21/c...

I support this. We need to do something to get the kids drinking.
