When I graduated in aeronautical engineering in the UK, half my class took jobs with Boeing in Seattle. A year later, the aircraft industry collapsed. Boeing did a "Musk", firing on a LIFO basis all of them. They never recovered their ability to attract people to this day.

I was listening to a GOP guy touting Trump as the Art of the Deal dealmaker. The book is a joke, and his deal making history proves that. I've done more deals than Trump. His deals never last because 1 rule he simply can't get is "never ask someone to do something you wouldn't do in their place".

Musk claims there are more SS#'s than people living. I discovered a clerical error meant my SS# was 1 digital off. Panicked, I went into the local SS office. They said that person would be 145yrs old. A click of a button and all was OK. Just because an SS# exists does not mean fraud.

Listening to Vance in Munich, waiting to hear him accuse Haitan tourists of barbecuing pets on the Champs Elysee. Or Putin's honorary citizenship, like Churchill for, as JFK declared, "being a friend of the U.S., inspiring freedom during war and peace, showing free men will defend it."

I graduated in aero engineering in the UK. Many of my class took jobs at Boeing in Seattle. 12 months later the industry turned down. Boeing fired all recent arrivals. I visited Seattle in 2020. The scars of those brutal layoffs are still there. Who will ever want to work for the federal govt?

I loved Top Gun. I'm not a social scientist, but I always had this crazy idea that it's appeal was Americans wanted to "whack" somebody after the Marine barracks bombing in Lebanon. Latent anger. Now Trump wants to send troops in to enjoy the Ghaza Riviera. What happened to his history lessons?

Breaking news. The pope is coming to visit. Trump plans to buy the Vatican. The Pope has agreed. The only outstanding issue is whether $6trillion of fixtures and fittings, otherwise known as art, is included.

Since 1980 the global banking system was under perpetual threat due to competition. ALL searching for "perpetual disruption". Many failed. But we learnt to succeed, you must avoid the "train the best and keep the rest" syndrome. Trump is guaranteeing a brain drain.

I would like to say this is a great article, but it's too prophetic. And painful to read. And spot on. Let's just say this is a very prescient read. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...
