This casts Nick Clegg’s efforts a few months ago in a dark light…

I've been tracking this split for many, many years as Google leeches user, publisher and advertiser data then combines it with O&O inventory. This is getting absurd considering multiple antitrust trials against Google. Now it's eating the web.

NEW: Last year, @johnnyryan.bsky.social made a website for a fake company using a photo of Russian soldiers to purposely elicit suspicion. A US data broker offered him access to thousands of lists of American devices anyway. Many lists targeted US leaders and defense contractors. Our latest:

Our new investigation in @wired.com shows the danger of Google's huge RTB security problem We easily obtained Google RTB segment data about US national security personnel from a databroker -- despite posing as a foreign company that fetes Russian troops our fake website www.wired.com/story/google...

Note well, European leaders: when Trump meets a push over he pushes them over.

It's time to switch off recommender algorithms. JD Vance's Munich speech indicates that Musk’s boosting of AfD & other far right across EU was not just Musk's solo run. It is now US policy. We internet users - not tech oligarchs - should decide for ourselves what we see and share online.

The Economist gets this wrong. China, not Europe, has the world’s most onerous artificial intelligence regulation, and enforces much more robustly. The lesson of DeepSeek is not, as JD Vance claims, that safety standards hinder innovation. www.economist.com/leaders/2025...

It’s official. EU Commission has dumped the AI Liability Directive. Presumably for “innovation”. But China, which has the toughest AI law in the world, is out innovating everyone.

Was JD Vance actually criticising China (where AI development is particularly heavily regulated)?

@ec.europa.eu guidelines on the definition of AI systems fails to provide clarity. We highlight three points in the guidelines: 1. Logistic regression is within the scope of the definition 2. Contradiction between a Recital and the guidelines 3. Strange reasoning www.iccl.ie/news/ai-syst...

Shouldn’t all countries?

“Sen Chris Coons upon learning of Trump’s proposal for Gaza. “You can report that I was speechless.” Coons then said: “That’s insane. I can’t think of a place on earth that would welcome American troops less and where any positive outcome is less likely."” - @frankthorp.bsky.social

The European Court decision today repudiates Irish Data Protection Commission posture under Helen Dixon, the previous commissioner. Thread: - The DPC refused to investigate a key element of a complaint against Meta. It refused to investigate Meta’s use of people’s most intimate data.

Amazing

Hugely important decision today from the European Court. The Irish Data Protection Commission sued its European peers for voting to force it to investigate Meta’s misuse of people’s most intimate data. Today the Court has ruled eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-conten...

We foolishly allowed a handful of oligarchs to dominate digital media, tools, and infrastructure, and who now work at Trumps command. www.nbcnewyork.com/news/busines...

This is, to quote POTUS, “a BFD.” Great work @epic.org team and ICCL! This complaint to FTC challenges Google’s invasive data practices.
