It's May and a time for "May flowers"! Here's a look at them through the eyes of a few impressionist artists, backed by a song of mine. youtu.be/jc8D4xbodzI?...

My next, seventh solo album is almost complete (just working on the final song). Maybe it's not too late to rename my proposed title and reevaluate the cover art!

I'll be donating my musical efforts to Eric's run for Mr Owosso and his supporting the Shiawassee Family YMCA. This meet and greet is FREE to attend! www.facebook.com/share/p/15pC...

We do this activity almost daily. Sarah brought over the aperitivo hour tradition, from across the pond, and tipping in our house is non-existent. 😆 www.cntraveler.com/story/tippin...

Those of you that voted for trump because of an "immigration" problem have a hand in these illegal and unwarranted deportations. You should be leading the call to undo this wrong. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/m...

But will we see this car with our ultra-protectionist policies and tariffs? Doubtful, but even if we do the costs might be prohibitive. www.forbes.com/sites/peterl...

Gates is absolutely right. Plus, while the rest of them amass their fortunes for their extravagances, he continues to do good with his. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...

A while back, I submitted "No One I Know" to the Country Indie Outlaws Spotify playlist. To my surprise not only did that song get included, but the entire Skiffle album was added! open.spotify.com/playlist/54A...

"That's Enough" is a neo-psychedelic tune that came into being because of switches erroneously engaged on an open reel tape mounted backward. The phrase 'found this time' became 'that's enough'. That's all I needed to inspire the writing. Listen here . . . open.spotify.com/track/7IXdxW...

Just so there are no misconceptions on what the new single is about . . . https://open.spotify.com/track/1S2VhO7NRNTJLqE1jgXC3L?si=f2b6fc7b311747b8

It's Bandcamp Friday, where any purchases go directly to the artist (this usually happens once a month). I've got more music here than anywhere else, including my most recent release! spotlightrecordings.bandcamp.com/track/just-d...

@listigeplaylists.bsky.social is helping artists expand beyond FB and other social media promotional tools. Give them a follow and my new single a listen! open.spotify.com/track/1S2VhO...

And there's more good news, this morning. "Before the End" succeeded in breaking through Spotify's royalty payment threshold. My deepest appreciation to all of you that made this happen! open.spotify.com/track/52gxPJ...

"Just Desserts" has just been added to Kevin Graham's 'Wasting Time With Indie' Spotify playlist! open.spotify.com/playlist/4vG...

Here's the new official lyric video, of the "Just Desserts" single. You're the first to know! www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmlF...

"Cat in a Tree" was the first song on my first release, the wryly named 4-song EP, Johnny Z and the Occasionals (1984). Later, the cat clawed its way onto the En Route album (1997), which included all four of those EP songs plus all of the the 6-song EP, Wait! and some new tunes.

Tunes With Tom just ended but if you missed it he played this one of mine . . . music.youtube.com/playlist?lis...

With the intention of lifting the mood during these dark days, of the two original songs I performed at The Coffeehouse at All Saints, last night, this was the oldest written (2 January 1985), though not released until my second solo album, Skiffle (8 June 2001). music.youtube.com/watch?v=bfr9...

I've talked about how my latest single, "Just Desserts", is a melding of western orchestral strings, rock drums, & traditional Turkish instrumentation. But what exactly is the latter. The Turkish Saz, also known as the Bağlama, is a long-necked, pear-shaped lute that, to me, sounds like a banjo.

On very rare occasions, someone will purchase a song on streaming service. I just happened to notice that "My Old Kentucky Home" had this happen, on Apple Music. It takes hundreds of streams to match a purchase in income. Thank you, whoever you are! music.apple.com/us/album/my-...

Precisely the concern expressed in my song, "Before the End". www.alternet.org/alternet-exc...

It's a very nice day here with temps above average and partly sunny skies. I got my walk in early and even visited the barber to make myself a bit more presentable, for Friday's coffeehouse appearance. So, here's a video that I feel is representative of my improved orientation.

At a time when even legal immigrants are under attack by the current administration this song, whose words are written by an Irish immigrant to the USA, are particularly poignant. I merely set them to music. youtu.be/NyXlTklXBxU?...

I released this song as a video and a single. My intent was to support Ukraine in my small way, drawing attention to the aggression by its neighbor, Russia. Direct Relief medical aid, link embedded in the description, is still needed.

I recently posted that "Go Away, Rona!" had passed the threshold for Spotify royalty payments. A quick shows that my YouTube video of the same song more than doubles my Spotify count. As I've mentioned in the past, YouTube doesn't even require a minimum for royalties. Here's that video . . .

In reviewing my Apple Music Artist account, "My Old Kentucky" is consistently at the top. Why aren't new songs making the "charts" cut? Here's link to my latest single. Maybe, just maybe you Apple Music listeners will show it some love. 🤞 https://music.apple.com/.../just-desserts-single/1807167765

Interesting observations of the life around us. When was the last time I noted these types of details around me? I don't remember. Though these are the things that enrich our existence. sarahgabriella.substack.com/p/noticing-t...

Yay, another of my songs has cracked the Spotify royalty threshold! "Go Away, Rona!" marked my 2nd effort in playing all instruments, on my releases, precipitated by the pandemic and has carried through for the past five years. Your listening, liking, adding, and sharing is greatly appreciated!

Yesterday, "Just Desserts" was added to a Spotify playlist and less than 24 hours later another has done the same. If you've not heard it yet, you can within this playlist!

Aside from DJs picking up "Just Desserts" for clubs, this is the first time it's been added to a Spotify playlist. Many thanks to Bazma Recording and Publishing for the add. If Spotify is your primary streaming service, I'd VERY much appreciate a listen, like, and playlist add.

I hadn't listened to "My Montgomery Baby" in many years, but Jammers and Gold spinning it on their radio show yesterday got me to listen with fresh ears. It was an absolute delight to hear some fine musicians join me in presenting it. Listen for yourself . . .

This wasn't the song that I thought would be next one to break through the threshold to earn some royalty money, on Spotify, but it is and I'm delighted! The lead instrument that snakes through the entire song is a ukulele. I used Kimberly's tenor uke rather than my soprano for the lower voicing.

Here's a link for all Apple Music users. "Just Desserts" is quite a departure for me, experimenting with the melding of east and west sounds. See for yourself! Click on this link and not the image. https://music.lnk.to/8MTCoj

My NYC business is done (for now) and time to see where my latest song has popped up. I've such a long way to go before it'll generate any currency on Spotify that I might better get started. If you listen via this streamer, please add it to your "liked" songs and spread the word. Many, many thanks!

I saw that my distributor had finished their inspection and sent the new single off to all streaming services, so I decided to do a search before hitting the hay (we're heading out to NYC early in the morning). Lo and behold, it's at YouTube and likely everywhere before long!

As we continue to wait for the general release of my next single (if you've not heard "Just Desserts", it is already out there), even I have been listening back to my previous singles. This one, retooled from my very first foray into songwriting, stands out!

While we wait for my distributor to complete their inspection process, of "Just Desserts", here's a forgotten single I initially released on SoundCloud, for a Campbell's Soup ad competition. The whole shebang was completed in less than a day, including the artwork!

This is kinda cool. I just registered by 107th song with BMI. The latest, "Just Desserts", is still awaiting general release, but you can hear it at my Spotlight Recordings Bandcamp page while we wait for it to hit Amazon, Apple, Spotify, Tidal, YouTube Music and the rest!

Many of us songwriter/musicians face the same doubts and motivations that Sarah expresses here. I guess writers and songwriters face much the same life experiences.

As I alluded to yesterday my new single, "Just Desserts", has not been delivered to streaming services, but it is available at my Spotlight Recordings bandcamp page. Check it out! spotlightrecordings.bandcamp.com/track/just-d...

Has DOGE taken over CD Baby? "Just Desserts" is set to be released tomorrow, but the single hasn't been delivered to streaming services yet! At least they've supplied me with the ISRC number. Not to worry, my Spotlight Recordings bandcamp page will have it available for you listen at midnight.

"That's Enough" has been added to this Spotify playlist. It's an album cut that's been showing some traction and I'm hoping that it'll break through the arbitrary threshold that Spotify has imposed on us indies. You can stream the song elsewhere, & I'll get a small, but appreciated royalty. Thanks!

Awaiting for my distributor to send my newest single out to all streaming and download platforms, I look back to my first foray into electronic distribution. "Daddy Was a Rounder" was only on iTunes, though I've since remedied that. It's still my #1 song on Spotify. Listen here or anywhere you like!

DOGE is figuring out how to pay for the tax cuts to the ultra wealthy.

"Just Desserts" is set for release on Wednesday, April 2nd. It's an unusual mingling of western orchestration and traditional Turkish instrumentation, presented in a dance format. Quite different for me (and most anyone, for that matter!).
