And Housing for All is an impressively comprehensive examination of homelessness in America by Maria Foscarinis, who has worked in homelessness advocacy for decades.

Restrictive zoning isn't just a problem for market-rate housing: After six years of planning the Strawberry Mansion Village affordable housing proposal in North Philadelphia could die because the local councilmember opposes granting the necessary variances. www.ocfrealty.com/naked-philly...

We had good bills die in Illinois because of partisanship. They would have funded transit and affordable housing. They had the votes to pass, but not all of those votes were from Democrats, the chair prevented a vote. Rather tank the state than work with Republicans on laws your own people drafted.

HUGE!!! Senator @scottwiener.bsky.social's SB 79, which the Bay Area Council is cosponsoring, passes the Senate!!! SB 79 legalizes apartments in single family areas near trains. This was a test for the Senate - the Assembly is passing housing bills, so this has a GREAT shot of becoming law!

Important news from the World Health Organization: High Blood pressure's number one cause? The spacing options in Microsoft Word. Even a few minutes dealing with paragraph options is said to take most of a day off of your life expectancy.

More Sausalito shennigans. Can't meet a deadline? Just revise it? What does a deadline mean when HCD allows them to keep changing them?

“Inclusionary zoning” is one of those policies that sounds great at first but then when you look at the actual impact it ends up just being a massive tax on new apartments that exempts single family homes, accomplishing the exact opposite of the intended effect

Well, this was a day-maker of a thing to read in a review today!

So when does Leo XIV lose that new pope smell?

This Star Wars Day I hope we can take the holiday back to its roots: learning the efficacy and righteousness of insurgent tactics against imperialists.

Do not fall for the lies of c-suites. Not making enough money for endless growth goons is not “inherently unprofitable.” Media is very challenging, yes, but the vultures want you to believe these layoffs are inevitable and necessary.

I just published the most personal thing I’ve ever written. The High Cost of Saying No: Why I Can’t Stop Talking About Housing. It’s about Atlanta and San Francisco, growth, and grief. And the decisions that shaped my marriage, my loss, and everything after www.dataandpolitics.net/the-high-cos...

This might be what certain theory suggests, but it just hasn't been borne out in any of the pro-housing advocacy I've done in various states and dozens of cities: apartment associations are always either neutral on pro-supply reforms or enthusiastic supporters.

The FBI just arrested a sitting judge.

Are these (⤵️) super-political bill analyses going to wreck the credibility of future committee reports on hot-button bills, undermining the ability of CA Leg to solve problems in the world? Let me illustrate the concern w/ legal claims in the SB 79 and SB 677 reports. 🧵/13

So when do the sports betting apps start taking puts on the new pope?

What if Elon is the first autistic person RFK has ever actually met and that’s why he assumes we don’t pay taxes or go on dates

AHIL member Joseph made a TikTok describing how his Chicago ADU is ILLEGAL to build today and how legalizing ADUs like his would help tackle our housing crisis. 🏘️

This is all fascinating. I had no idea Ryan Coogler negotiated a contract where he kept final cut, first-line profits, and the rights to SINNERS after 25 years. But the idea of studio execs FREAKING OUT about it ("What if EVERY in-demand creative wants rights over their own work?") is even better.

The entire discourse around Pluto being a planet or not is key jangling validation of arbitrary categories which progressives shouldn't stand for.

Look, say what you will about the necessity of live action remakes, but this new Snow White actually has some interesting things going on. The costume and production design are both stark and gothic. Where else do you see weirdness like that scene of Charlize Theron in the milk bath?

Sad that these staff have been hurt, but glad that Sigil, clearly a bad idea from the outset, will not be moving forward.

A little-discussed section of the Dead Sea Scrolls includes a longer sermon on the mount, with the added phrase: "Blessed are the writers who include suggested cites in their papers. Theirs is the rock on which we may build. To them is rendered thanks from countless weary researchers."
