"THE GALES OF NOVEMBER: The Untold Story of the Edmund Fitzgerald," comes out October 7. You can now pre-order here 7 different ways, including your independent book store! wwnorton.com/books/978132...

Pleased to report The Great Halifax Explosion is now in its eighth printing! Thank you @HarperCollins! And THANK YOU readers! You can get all my books from a variety of sources here: johnubacon.com/books/

Let me boil down the pregame Super Bowl shows: -Both teams have a ton of talent. -Both are very well coached. -Both are playing their best at the right time. Who's going to win? Nobody knows anything. There. Saved you a few hours. You're welcome. 😉

Here's a great story in NHL.com by @DaveStubbs about Tony Esposito receiving the Silver Medal at Michigan Tech. www.nhl.com/news/tony-es...

Yes, I'm working to finish my book. But man, it's the Lions, in the playoffs! A sentence I haven't written many times in my life.

Michigan finishes at 8-5. Bad by program standards. And yet: -Beat USC (#11 at the time) -Beat Minnesota for the Brown Jug. -Beat MSU for Paul Bunyan. -Beat NU for the Jewett trophy. -Beat #2 OSU in historic upset. -Beat #11 Bama in a bow. Not sure any Michigan team got more bang for the buck.

The @Lions are missing about 230 players on defense, but man they're still fun to watch. The offense alone is worth the price of admission -- which on TV, is nothing.

Here I am, watching the @detroitlions.bsky.social in late December, in games that really matter. And with my 9-year old son, no less, who is becoming a Lions fan -- something I can't claim to have been as a kid. They have transformed the franchise.

If you want to learn more about what makes Michigan Tech special, here's a short video with some Dvorak! www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wfR...

After being called "Nobody U," (more or less, it seems), D-II Michigan Tech beats D-I UW-Green Bay. This is hilarious, and fun -- two things college sports could use more of. (Full disclosure: I'm a MTU trustee.) @seideljeff did a great job on this.

If you like non-stop ads -- and I mean *really* like 'em! -- check out the College Football Playoffs! You'll get even more than you bargained for.

The main argument for a Strategic BItcoin Reserve seems to be that Bitcoin holders worry about an impending shortage of greater fools and need the US government to act as the greatest fool of last resort.

Much thanks. Good to be here. I'll be posting here more often once I finish my latest book, this one on the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Great thanks, Doug!

Great thanks, Lion!

On this date in 1917, at 9:04am, Halifax suffered the biggest manmade explosion until the a-bomb. 1/5th the power of the A-Bomb, it obliterated half the town, killing 2K people. But Canada, w/unexpected U.S. help, saved almost all of the 9K injured, and became allies. www.amazon.com/Great-Halifa...

I'm not a fan of planting the flag. I'm old school, and figure the scoreboard says enough. But it's also true it's become part of the game (Texas, Oregon, etc.), and doesn't justify running out to pick a fight - especially when the Buckeyes had 60 minutes to prevent it. My two cents.

Michigan has to be the nation's happiest 5-loss team.

Apparently OSU head coach Ryan Day's buy-out is going viral on Ohio media. It's $37M+, and insiders tell me OSU boosters have no appetite for it, with NIL demands, and the like. FYI.

Thanks! My book, "The Gales of November: The Untold Story of the Edmund Fitzgerald," comes out in October, 2025.

Biggest Michigan upsets over OSU, since Bo-Woody, in chronological order: -1969: #12 UM v. #1 OSU, defending national champs. -1993: NR UM v. #5 OSU -1995: 18 UM v. 2 OSU -1996: 21 UM v. 2 OSU -2024: NR UM v. 2 OSU Think 2024 might top them all.

Michigan has to be the nation's happiest 5-loss team.

How do people like it over here so far? Pros and cons vs. Twitter, Facebook, etc.?

For my second post on BlueSky, I would like to announce that, in a considerable upset, the unranked Michigan Wolverines outscored the second-ranked Buckeyes of Ohio State, 13-10. If you'd like more such cutting-edge scoops, please follow.

"God what hath I wrought?" There's my opening BlueSky post. Points if you can name the source. Good to be here.
