So if we ever meet up and you have a podcast, please don’t ask if I’ve listened to your podcast, the answer is no and it’ll just make the whole thing awkward.

If you suffer from a disease that hadn’t yet been discovered when RFK Jr. was a kid, you’re on your own. All medical knowledge now retroactively frozen at 1970.

My dude, we keep discovering things that have always been there. Galileo had never heard of heliocentrism when he was a kid.

The iPhone of cars is a bike.

I have to admit that I, even as an advocate for congestion pricing, was wrong about just how successful it would be in such a short time frame

Liz Truss was forced out of office after only 50 days for economic damage that doesn’t even come close to Trump’s malfeasance. Parliamentary government looking pretty great right now.

Please put AOC in charge of all the things.

Gut US education while also slashing visas for people from countries whose students were already outperforming ours. In other words, stop developing the best and brightest and also make it impossible to hire them here. Cool, cool.

If you say you’re into biohacking but opposed to vaccines, you misunderstand one or the other. Vaccination is the OG biohack.

This is exactly the way the War on Terror’s demonization of the Muslims Next Door grew more intense as the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan became obvious fiascos.

To be a billionaire and still trying to get richer—let alone arguing against labor protections—is as clear a sign of mental illness as you’ll find. Shit needs to be in the DSM. It’s “Hoarders” ramped up to macroeconomic levels.

Musk and Trump are masters of making losses look like wins (when seeking loans) and making wins look like losses (when dodging taxes). They traffic in bullshit math.

Whenever our dev team demos new features, they provide birthdates in the ‘90s. How do I report microaggressions against Gen X?

I’m both dismayed and frankly terrified by the number of well informed and smart people who are witnessing the Nazi-billionaire fascist takeover of their own country yet unable or unwilling to say literally any of these words and call a thing a thing.

To me, a Nazi salute means, "I want to murder your family." There can be no irony about it: It puts deep anger and hatred in my heart to see it done and I will never forgive anyone who justifies or minimizes it.

RFK Jr. is changing the name of the Tropic of Cancer to the Tropic of It Serves You Right for Getting Vaccinated

I feel so sick. Enough with the lies, enough with the games. They know exactly what they're doing. This is a neo-Nazi movement. Proudly so. The only reason they've kept it coded up until now was to take advantage of those who didn't want to believe it. No more looking away. Face up to what it is.

In terms of legendary players who’ve gone into coaching, I’d say Steven Gerrard is following the Jerry West trajectory. #lfc

What hateful prick didn’t put Ichiro on their ballot?

I think even the label "classic rock" doesn't mean as much to Gen Zs and younger. For them, it's all classic and modern, all at once. If you're my age (Gen X), you experienced pop music (rock, R&B, folk, hip hop...) in distinct phases, album by album, year by year, genre by emerging genre. Etc...

Last month, I fell down an absolutely bizarre rabbit hole trying to figure out who was ripping off articles from Oregon journalists. What I found was identity theft, plagiarism and an absolutely terrifying future for local journalism led by AI scammers. My latest:

the current moment feels like a trolley problem with like a dozen billionaires on one track and a billion or so people on the other

My 10 yo son and his neighborhood friends all have bikes and skateboards. None of them has stolen lumber from a construction site, let alone seen a street ramp to completion. I’m failing here.

The ‘90s aligned with my 20s, which is always a magical time. And spent most of the decade living in Tokyo, which was incredible. Then there’s this historical context. I actively try not to anchor on that decade, because, personally and culturally, it was just too many deviations away from the norm.

In his defense, his nomination for AG really was becoming a distraction—from his and his GOP enablers’ efforts to hide his sex crimes.

One thing I find interesting about the echo chamber complaint is that an echo chamber just won a presidential election. Put aside the convo of whether it’s “good” or “bad” for a moment. The far right has devoted enormous resources + time to building echo chambers & loathes spaces they don’t control

The “kara” in “karaoke” is the same as the one in “karate.”(Meanings: empty orchestra and empty hand.) We manage to mispronounce both, but in different ways, which is funny. Anyway, I can be pretty pedantic after a beer.

what i want in regard to CEOs would break the terms of service to post. i will eat the mud under my front porch before i will submit to facial scans at the behest of the ultrarich

20ish years ago, RFK visited us at Outside Mag to discuss environmental work. He lamented how Bush had destroyed our global standing, contrasting that with memories of visiting Europe as a kid, when the US was celebrated. He's now supporting our destruction in ways even Bush wouldn’t have dared.

It's all tied together and don't let them trick you into thinking it's for safety

If it’s like this now—for an internationally famous multimillionaire athlete with all his papers in order—imagine what it will be like for, say, an average tourist trying to come here after Trump’s goons take control of the border.

Gaetz dropping out is an incremental win at best. Don't be distracted. Stripe may be wounded, but he's still alive and backed by a thousand other gremlins.
