I mean, SOMEONE doesn’t know what the fuck they’re doing, certainly

Submissions for talks are open! Thoroughly recommend - adv x is a lovely, smart crowd and their talks are prob the best in the UK.

Here's an uncomfortable thing: I bet the people who suppose using AI to turn hard books into easy books are the same ones that pop off in the kotaku comments section whenever they say Elden Ring should have an easy mode

Expelled! (inkle Ltd, 2025)

The Usborne Young Readers series already does this really well and it comes with cheerful pictures too! NYT should check that out stat. Their Pride and Prejudice in twenty pages is a banger

Writing (and all art) is so often seen as a talent instead of what it truly is: a skill. If you aren’t willing to do the work, don’t be surprised when you don’t reap the rewards (fulfillment, a career, a few scant dollars). If you’re outsourcing the process to a machine, you’re already COOKED.

NarraScope, the annual US-based narrative/IF/adventure games conference organized by @iftechfoundation.org, is ongoing this weekend! We hope it's a great time for all in attendance and we encourage checking out past talks on their YT channel: www.youtube.com/@IFTechFound...

ah, procedural generation. it never fails

If you haven't already purchased tickets, there's still time! I'll be part of the Local IF Meetups Supergroup panel on Saturday (remotely), with Destina and I representing the Oxford and London IF meetup. The rest of the time I'll be trying to take in as many other cool talks as I can!

The best is back

new nat game just dropped

And I'm so happy we got @mytholder.bsky.social and @gejwatts.bsky.social 's goals. Ella's goal was £71,835, i.e. how much Cthulhu Dark raised in its Kickstarter. Cosmic Dark just went past that! Scott's goal is £74,618. If you wonder why that's significant, change your currency to US dollars!

Had a scene to write. Was finding it hard. Procrastinated. Went for a walk. Didn’t write it. Realised, thinking about something else, that I wasn’t writing it because it was a bad idea. Had a better idea. Wrote that instead. This is what writing efficiently looks like, in the real world.

So close! 13hrs left and the campaign needs about £2k to hit my stretch goal. Please keep boostiiiiiing!
