🤖NEW EPISODE!🤖 We're returning to The Black Archive from @obversebooks.bsky.social today, as we discuss it's latest release, Silver Nemesis, with author @cooraysmith.bsky.social on.soundcloud.com/BECqwvZvsPVo...

Gene Hackman was the most charismatic, gripping, fun yet terrifying actor that ever lived. He was a devastating force in every project he appeared in, & left the business on his own terms to enjoy a simple life. An incredible titan of the screen who was already missed, but will be really missed now.

Well, only one thing fitting to watch tonight…

#DoctorWho #TargetBookClub will be taking place on 19th July at The Abbey Centre in Westminster. Tickets: bit.ly/escape2danger A day of talks, readings and guests devoted to the greatest book range in the universe. COME!

Great move. Ideally something called Drama Of The Week would run for more than three weeks at a time, so I hope it does well enough for that to happen. LA Productions used to make Moving On for the BBC, so are experienced in low-budget standalone plays. www.advanced-television.com/2025/02/24/c...

We should enjoy every minute we get of Mo Salah in this country, as it may be a very, very long time before we see his like again.

Salah goal and assist. Excellence as a standard.

I informed my sister via WhatsApp that the Man City shirt font was designed by Noel Gallagher and she sent a voice note back that was just her laughing

We invited Mikey Smith to join the team and asked him what he wanted to talk about - and so he broke the podcast. Here's what happened when we tried to review Peter Jackson's sophomore film Meet the Feebles: strangersinspace.libsyn.com/film-club-li...

Just been reminded of one of my favourite stories from the old days of television. Dag Hammarskjöld, UN secretary general, was due in for a Panorama. Before he arrived, they needed to line up the cameras, so floor manager Albert Stevenson, later a distinguished LE producer was asked to step in.

One day about 18 years ago I was looking around a Yoko Ono exhibition at the Berkeley Art Museum when an old wall phone in the gallery rang. This phone was part of the show. I looked around & I saw that it was just me & a security guard in the gallery. He said, “oh my god you need to answer it! 1/5

Plenty of stuff on all of my blogs to debate and talk about. The links are on my profile. Would suggest you make active use of them; it might prevent you from feeling fed up with the stale air of recycled opinions and provoke you to open a window or four.

🔔NEW UPLOAD:🔔 In 2016, Hall of Fame #MLB catcher Mike Piazza did the most American thing possible by using his millions of dollars to buy a football team in the Italian lower leagues. Within two years, he destroyed the club. Let’s talk about it. youtu.be/qGzpYKvxsEo

Ah, the sweet melancholy of the last night of #gally1. It’s been an absolute blast as ever to be back.

Had a wonderful time at #Gally1. Fan enthusiasm and empowerment as an almost tangible force that has rather bowled me over. So much colourfulness, so much unabashed joy. Alright, I reluctantly admit it, all the people who said I would enjoy it were right.

Gally carpet looks like the cover of a Black Archive book.

Then Play Long update, this one written by @agincourtgirl.bsky.social about her own life at the time, and then the strangely hapless Gary Barlow (many thanks to @whenisbirths.bsky.social for his biographical assistance): nobilliards.blogspot.com/2025/02/gary...

This excellent thread backs up something I've been saying for a while: the BBC needs a drama strand to replace Inside No. 9. - 13 episodes a year, half an hour per episode - Writers new or at least new-ish to television - Economical staging. iPlayer, and BBC Two at 10pm before Newsnight.

LRT: Obviously I feel seen and would absolutely sell out to play arenas if I had a shot.

When I see podcasters doing arenas, I imagine ppl calling out ‘do your rambling intro from episode 843’ all evening.

12 points for my absolute favourite discovery during the challenge. One of those songs I didn’t know about that’s years, quite possibly decades, ahead of its time.

VLADIMIR: Well? Shall we log off? ESTRAGON: Yes, let's log off. They do not log off.

Avengers Secret Wars/Doomsday had better have Daredevil asking an invisible Sue Storm what her superpower is
