I'm not doomscrolling, you are...

A superpower for programmers... Learning to sit comfortably with uncertainty, when the path is unclear and you don't have all the answers. Gather evidence, assess the situation, iterate. Sooner or later the next step becomes clear.

Launched the new version of my blog this week. Spent ages updating some older posts to have proper syntax highlighting etc. But hey, if someone stumbles upon my blog while tracking down a very specific issue with a framework that was abandoned in 2010, I can sleep easy knowing they'll be helped!

Strong Monday morning vibes this Tuesday morning. Kids back at school, time to try and remember what it is I do for a living...

My wish for the new year, for all of us. A little more “we’re in this together” Turning the dial away from self focus, and more towards helping and caring for others.

Well that was, something... Found an old VHS video from my primary school days of my classmates and I prancing about in period costume. Overwhelming nostalgia seeing my 9 year old self. 1991 seems a very long time ago all of a sudden…

Something I've been thinking about quite a bit recently... feedback loops and their impact on software development. It feels like shorter feedback loops are a key differentiator of successful projects. Conversely, long feedback loops are kryptonite, and to be avoided at all costs.

Sounds painful...

It's interesting, working on projects in React, Svelte, and Blazor, to see the common pitfalls and patterns which pervade all of them. By far and away the biggest/most common pain point is state management. Where to put state, how/when to share it, how much state to keep on the client vs server/db

Writing new blog posts about Blazor, Blazor WebAssembly AOT, and real-time communication in Blazor Web Apps using SignalR for the Progress Telerik blog. If you're new to Blazor, there is a whole Blazor Basics section with ~40 articles. www.telerik.com/blogs/tag/bl...

Just a reminder that my Blazor Jumpstart course is $70 off for the next few days. It takes my 25+ years of web development experience and distills it into a quick start guide to building modern web apps. Plus membership of the Practical ASP.Net community. practicaldotnet.io/c/blazor-jum...

Sat in the car in the supermarket car park, rain teeming down outside, waiting for my youngest to wake up so we can go in. If you haven't heard from me in a few hours, send help/supplies!

Preparing a party has never been more fun! Excited for this app to launch! Big congrats to Daniel and Robin for finishing an actual side-project 😄 Oh, and it’s built with .NET MAUI too… #dotnet #dotnetmaui

Whilst my US friends celebrate thanksgiving, here I am trying to hunt down a memory leak… 😔
