So much goodness here

Jesus calls us to be light in the darkness, exposing those things that are not like God no matter where we find them, even in those organizations we greatly love. We are called to sit apart when those who stand together are disobedient to Him.

No human leader, no matter how gifted, no matter how silver-tongued, can satisfy our longings. If they say they can, consider it diagnostic.

Shameful

Christians can read the Bible every day and still have our hearts firmly against the ways of the kingdom of God. Unless we read scripture through the lens of the crucified Christ, with others, our exegesis is dangerously subject to personal preferences and political allegiances.

In the countless times since 2016 that I’ve tried to make sense of evangelical support for our current president, this verse always comes to mind. “So he gave them what they asked for, but sent a wasting disease among them.” - Psalm 106:15 They asked for power and we’re all reaping the whirlwind.

I didn’t know! Thankful for this model of paramedics serving neighbors in need from the Freedom House Ambulance Service.

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers. This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder. Auschwitz took time.

This whole thread shares a beautiful way forward during grief filled times, like the one we are collectively living through in the US. As someone who lives with a chronic, isolating illness, I found this part deeply encouraging. Thank you @mishellbaker.bsky.social

Let the reader understand 😊

Words I’d like to ban from #collegefootball broadcasts: - physicality - resiliency - adversity These are the functional equivalents of the overused “lead, guide, and direct” from Baptist deacon prayers. For Christmas, ESPN needs to give a thesaurus to every on camera talent 📚

Hey @bsky.app 👋 It’s lovely here. It would be even better if we had a way to remove bot/anonymous followers. Thanks in advance from this actual human 😊

Optimist: The cup is half full. Pessimist: The cup is half empty. Scientist: The cup is completely full as its volume is comprised of 50% visible liquid and 50% invisible air.

Describe yourself using 5 things that are probably in your purse/backpack at any given moment: 1. Books/Kindle 2. Mechanical pencil 3. 5 different antihistamines 4. Mini sewing kit 5. Laminated index card with important numbers (in case my phone dies)

Here to learn and listen in on interesting conversations. Maybe I will be brave enough to join in this time 😊
