In the name of filling Bluesky with science, I'm proud of this one doi.org/10.1007/s105... a lot of ecology happens to #eDNA after it is shed into the environment but before we scoop it up, and that can have important impacts on whether we successfully detect it, miss it, or something in between.

True crabs keep leaving the ocean to live intertidal, freshwater, and terrestrial lifestyles. It happened up to 17 times in the last 100 million years and may still be happening 🦀🧪
