Just released this free post. Its clear after statements by Rubio and Hegseth over the last few days that Putin has won. The US government is now operating under his almost total reflexive control. Trump has made the Russian narrative the US mindset. open.substack.com/pub/phillips...

"Trump official who shut down counter-Russia agency has links to Kremlin" No way! It cant be! 😒

Igor Girkin continues to harshly criticize the authorities and Putin for failing to prepare Russia for war, military modernization collapse, and trusting agreements with the West. He predicts escalating conflict, large-scale battles in Crimea and Donbas, and insists there will be no compromise.

Poland has proven the involvement of Russian intelligence services in the sabotage by arson of the “Marywilska 44” shopping center in Warsaw. Therefore, the Russian Consulate General in Kraków is being closed.

OTD in 1997 negotiations to end the 1st Chechen war began. as a result we promised to not use force, or the threat of force, “forever”. 2 years later we staged some false flags & invaded & killed over 100,000 civilians. So you can trust us in negotiations now.

Another day of reminding everyone of Carl Sagan’s eerily accurate warning about the dangers of not being able to ask skeptical scientific questions to those in power or authority.

What a surprise that the “full and comprehensive” free trade agreement Trump is announcing with much fanfare this morning is not exactly full and comprehensive.

A Russian influence operation was going nowhere. Then it hit the big time www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Peter Krékó, quoted here, has been doing great work.

Russia keeps killing civilians, and our official policy, sadly, is to blame the Ukrainian victims. The US could act to stop this, but we seem to lack both empathy and strategy. Good reporting here. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/29/w...

Trump’s crypto scam: 764,000 ripped off, 58 wallets made millions. His awkward meeting with the Canadian PM, new wars, his family's latest global grift. There's a whole lot to catch up on in today's bulletin:

Trump’s back in the White House—and his kids are cashing in. Saudi towers, Qatari golf deals, crypto schemes. This isn’t public service. It’s a shakedown. adamkinzinger.substack.com/p/the-trump-...

Footage released by Ukraine's GUR confirms a Ukrainian naval drone shot down a Russian Su-30 fighter jet using a modified R-73 air-to-air missile. This is the first destruction of a combat aircraft by a naval drone in the world.

Big loss in court for Kari Lake Judge Royce Lamberth orders administration to restore millions of $$ in funds to Radio Free Europe Judge: "When money has been appropriated by Congress.. Executive has no residual constitutional power to refuse to spend these appropriations"

People are NOT understanding what empty cargo ships from China means. It means no work for dock workers. No work for truck drivers, no work for retailers, fewer dollars circulating. The cascade effect is just mind boggling.

complete batshit insanity

According to two sources, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had an internet connection that bypassed the Pentagon’s security protocols set up in his office to use the Signal messaging app on a personal computer.

Maddow: 88% of the country says no, no, he cannot defy a supreme court ruling. Only 9% say yes he can. And you know, it's not the same thing. But I should mention that 9% is also the proportion of Americans who told yougov this week that they have a favorable view of the black plague

There are things the US can do to *make* Vladimir stop. Putin has vulnerabilities we are either overlooking or choosing not to leverage. Putin is banking on the US letting Russia off the hook despite Russia's own precarious position

Politico reports that the UK has introduced a new package of sanctions against Russia. In total, the new package includes 150 new trade sanctions targeting Russia. www.politico.eu/article/uk-b...

"'US tells Russia crimes it commits are acceptable' — What recognition of Russia's occupation of Crimea would mean for Ukrainians, Crimean Tatars" kyivindependent.com/not-just-a-b...

I've been asking this question for some while. One can hope it will be the end of arguments. And *finally* the organizing of a united democratic front of opposition to U.S.-Russian entente. The key question is if any Republicans here will join a united Democratic front. One can hope but not expect.

Trump’s "peace plan" for Ukraine was always going to be to try to break the international order, give a victory to Putin, and blame Ukraine. The underlying reality is of a war Ukraine must fight because it is under continuous bloody assault.

So basically the position of the Trump Admin is if Ukraine doesn’t agree to all of Putin’s demands, and hand over their power plants and mineral rights to the US, then they don’t want peace so we should walk away from them.

Of course they want to help Russia www.politico.com/news/2025/04...

Pathetic. Putin isn't even on Truth Social but it'll get back to him, and he will just laugh his ass off. Just like the rest of the world is laughing at us right now.

I sent out this piece yesterday. Trump's final plan is basically Russia's plan, which would legitimize Russian conquests and provide Russia the best possible situation in which to rebuild its military--while giving Ukraine nothing. Europe needs to stand with Ukraine now.

Chinese Commerce Ministry spokesman He Yadong: “I would like to emphasise that there are currently no economic and trade negotiations between China and the US.” Is anyone…anyone at all…shocked by this?

Our cover this week.

Latest in @theatlantic.com . Trump's plan is a no win for Ukraine. Whether Ukraine agrees or not, Trump will end sanctions on Russia and get back to business with Putin. Can we finally hear the end of the arguments that Trump is anything but Russia's ally? www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

The Chinese think Trump is a weak chump. And the way he has handled this ridiculous trade war, they are likely right. apnews.com/article/chin...

Fox News chief political analyst Brit Hume: "There have been a series of ceasefire proposals.Putin either hasn't agreed to them or has immediately broken them. I'm not sure what concessions Putin will ever be willing to make." I would also like to understand what concessions Putin&Russia are making

Walz: "This is how government is supposed to work. It's not supposed to be one old man in the Oval Office sending out middle of the night tweets that shock markets into free fall. It's not supposed to be a bunch of 20 somethings unelected and firing everyone. It's not supposed to be chaos."

Sadly inevitable. This traitorous, Putin grovelling orange turd has reaffirmed just how far 🇺🇸 has fallen in this total betrayal of a brave ally.

A downright creepy afternoon note from JPM: “.. It is VERY quiet on our desk .. I can get behind buying high volume panic, but that is not this... this is a continued flight from USD denominated assets and no measure of retail flow, mutual fund flow or prime data will tell you when / if to buy.”
