Trump Selects Former Amazon, UPS Safety Director to Lead OSHA www.epi.org/policywatch/...

Massive, meaningful changes in governance done as a result of a ctrl-f for the word "transition." No one will ever believe how stupid this shit was.

I wrote about conservative media and the broader state of the sucking-up business, and the new and oafish Tory Dork version of both as expressed through one bad blog. defector.com/confused-bri...

“A federal judge on Monday said the White House has defied his order to release billions of dollars in federal grants, marking the first time a judge has expressly declared that the Trump White House was disobeying a judicial mandate.” www.nytimes.com/2025/02/10/u...

“your honor, what option do you leave me if you rule against us” is a question we may well see answered by one side or another

I'm a one-issue voter and it's "we absolutely need to let banks do mortgage fraud again, it's important." So this is a pretty big day for me.

Contrary to what the Washington Post tells you, it was very obvious at the time that Elon Musk's purchase of Twitter would give him enormous political power cepr.net/publications...

I wrote about the idiotic and anti-human vision that is currently replacing the republic. I will now go back to thinking about what a cleansing flood might look like. defector.com/billionaire-...

It’s time to organize: “The internet has conditioned us to constantly seek new information, as if becoming a sponge of bad news will eventually yield the final piece of a puzzle. But there is also such a thing as having enough information.” www.404media.co/you-cant-pos...

How workers died last week. Decapitated in woodchipper, crushed by concrete slab, air crashes, coal mining, electrocution, airport tarmac incident, plane crashes, vehicle incidents, shootings. On average around 100 workers die every week on the job. jordanbarab.com/confinedspac...

Earlier this month I went to Las Vegas and saw the bleak and lonely AI-managed world of the future at the Consumer Electronics Show. I wrote about that, and other possible futures, and a neat soft-serve machine I'd love to have in my home. defector.com/the-future-i...

A world leader who fires his political opponents, writes laws that violate the constitution, threatens to deport students and faculty based on their viewpoints, and freezes government functionality (even for essential services) is a dictator. That I’m afraid to say that publicly proves my point.

A thing I keep thinking about is how if through several actual miracles we get a D president again, none of these things are going to be restored w/any urgency they won't come in shock and awe week one we might get a tenth back over four years & lose them again immediately if the party remains as is

Safety and occupational health is now DEI? Goodbye OSHA

Good, clarifying blog here: defector.com/donald-trump...

As someone who has worked on employment discrimination litigation this is basically correct in my experience, corporate “DEI” trainings are something they point to when they want to avoid liability for a manager calling an employee a racial slur: “well we said not to do that in this PowerPoint”

I wrote this after the election and what's hopeful in it is still what I'm holding onto. Trump shit doesn't work, won't work, and is going to hurt a lot of people. It's awful. The coming backlash to that—what it demands, but mostly what it delivers—is the next big story. defector.com/beyond-belief

I love how my 76 year old liberal mom basically did the Trump Barney Frank tweet about Lauren Sanchez in a call this morning .

Not liking how many things I'm reading/getting pitched on that are using california as a way to advance the idea of "self insuring" if our answer to the insurance crisis is to make a country full of people who can't afford to retire also self insure we're completely cooked
