Judge Orders Trump Admin to Comply With Previous Order Restoring USAID Funds truthout.org/articles/jud...

Often, working on my book about the last 25 years, writing the parts reviewing how systematically and arrogantly agenda-setting elite political journalists took the side of the most harmful forces in American life, I get overwhelmed with grief, and just have to take a day. This is one of those days.

We've launched a Wisconsin Supreme Court Race toolkit! Make sure every voter in Wisconsin knows what's at stake! Share now! social.demcast.com/toolkit/WISu...

Lobsters in the Pot are Starting to Get Steamed. A consequential week for domestic politics.

New — HHS just got another email with guidance stating that they aren’t required to respond to the 5 bullets email, but if they do they should follow specific guidelines including: “Assume that what you write will be read by malign foreign actors and tailor your response accordingly.”

Found the waste, fraud, and abuse Republicans have been looking for: Waste = Giving huge handouts to billionaires at the expense of everyday Americans Fraud = Trying to cut Medicaid & SNAP Abuse = Using the suffering of CA disaster victims to force through partisan policies

In recent polls independents across the US disapproved of Musk’s handling of the so-called 'Department of Government Efficiency' by 18 pts. How could this affect state-level elections? John Nichols @nicholsuprising.bsky.social comments – on @thenation.com podcast bit.ly/434ebeK

Bernie Sanders has put Democrats "on notice" that they need to fight the billionaires – and make issues like healthcare and income inequality "THE issues" – Harold Meyerson @theprospect.bsky.social comments – on 'Living in the USA' @kpfk.bsky.social bit.ly/41t2htm

"Even the MAGA base did not vote explicitly to overturn the American system of government, and that actually is what Trump is attempting to do" – Harold Meyerson @theprospect.bsky.social on 'Living in the USA' @kpfk.bsky.social bit.ly/41t2htm

Musk has high negatives – that hurts Trump, but he doesn’t seem to realize it – yet. John Nichols @nicholsuprising.bsky.social – on @thenation.com podcast bit.ly/434ebeK

Culture war issues like teaching evolution were big in the 1920s, but never became political weapons for the Republicans in that era– Adam Hochschild explains why in his piece on Brenda Wineapple's "Keeping the Faith" @nybooks.com & on @thenation.com podcast bit.ly/434ebeK

"At least one person is interested in talking to working-class people" – Bernie Sanders @sanders.senate.gov – Harold Meyerson @theprospect.bsky.social comments – on 'Living in the USA' @kpfk.bsky.social bit.ly/41t2htm

In the upcoming Wisconsin Supreme Court election, Elon Musk funding the Republican candidate provides Dems with a powerful weapon. John Nichols @nicholsuprising.bsky.social comments – on @thenation.com podcast bit.ly/434ebeK

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

It took ten years, but the NYT finally got there

This is really smart by @sanders.senate.gov Go to republican districts and push voters to pressure their republican reps. www.commondreams.org/news/bernie-...

Trump's own pollster just found that in swing House districts, Dems lead by 5 points and voters want tax policy to prioritize working people. www.yahoo.com/news/trump-o...

Young voters really don't like Elon Musk. His unfavorability is 54% with all voters. 67% with voters under 30. Feels important for a party that needs to win a much bigger share of young voters.

"People can be stirred to action, to rage, by the idea that alien forces are coming for you... and the Republicans have made very skillful use of this and will continue to do so" – Adam Hochschild on culture wars in America – on @thenation.com podcast bit.ly/434ebeK

Elon Musk's unlimited money poses a major threat all over the place. But there’s also kind of an opportunity for liberals – which is that Elon Musk is not popular in America: John Nichols @nicholsuprising.bsky.social comments on @thenation.com podcast bit.ly/434ebeK

"There's nothing like reconfiguring the FBI so it carries out whatever Donald Trump wants, which is what Kash Patel would do" – Harold Meyerson @theprospect.bsky.social on our new FBI director – on 'Living in the USA' @kpfk.bsky.social bit.ly/41t2htm

This April 1st, once again, the political balance of the Wisconsin Supreme Court will be in the hands of voters – this time, Elon Musk has big money on the Republican-backed candidate – John Nichols @nicholsuprising.bsky.social reports on @thenation.com podcast bit.ly/434ebeK

With everything else going on, the fact that Lina Khan's merger guidelines have been retained by the Trump administration is a small miracle. I asked Lina about it: "I think it goes underappreciated...the degree to which there actually has been bipartisan consensus on some of these core issues."

Working class Americans live 6 years shorter lives than the wealthy. Doctors believe economic stress is a major factor in that disparity. I asked Americans to describe how stress impacts their lives & well-being. The responses were heartbreaking. Here are some of them:

Great essay not just on #takedowntesla but how it's working and how it exemplifies direct action (Waging Nonviolence is always worth checking out):
