Hey, Europe! A heads up on future UK plans of Modern Money Lab. We plan to do UK versions of our two interactive weekends in London - Rethinking Capitalism (21/22 June) and Modern Money and The Deficit Myth (28/29 June). Details to follow, but I hope people would like to come to either or both.

Love this absolute cracker from Kelton open.substack.com/pub/stephani... #econsky

I attended one in Melbourne. Inspiring content and people. Highly recommend.

Good fun explainer on some of basic but underrated concepts of the economy✔️✔️

#auspol You know the nuclear as power argument in Australia is a dumb as it gets but a nuclear industry to provide fuel for the Subs (if they ever happen) or for nuclear weapons though is different. If the US walks away from NATO then this will have enormous geo strategic consequences 1/2

Many of you have already seen it, but I wanted to wait until my version was complete. My version has my newly set up youtube channel, some minor fixes to the transcript &a bevy of links throughout the transcript. Also a PDF version. Thanks @pkrugman.bsky.social www.crisesnotes.com/musk-in-your...

All websites that depend on NOAA data should display something like this. earth.nullschool.net

I’ve had a chance to watch the full 50-odd minute footage Whitehouse meeting and FWIW here’s my take. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻🧵🧵🧵🪡🪡 1/8

The benefits of building power and influence with and around things other than domination is that you don’t need to dominate to be able to utilise power and influence.

The change in American trance and foreign policy is a representation on the leadership. And what’s obvious from watching these leaders is that when all your relationship are purely transactional, shared values have no meaning. 1/

A serious follow-up to yesterday's playful post. stephaniekelton.substack.com/p/the-real-r...

Consistently great insight from Stephanie Kelton👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 open.substack.com/pub/stephani...

Had a little fun with this one. stephaniekelton.substack.com/p/wheres-the...

Stephanie Kelton is one of the best economic communicators going around and her recent prolifically is a ray of sunshine through the grim overcast. #econsky open.substack.com/pub/stephani...

#econsky Another top read.

Have been seeing a lot of plugs for this show in my feed recently and then i hear that its has knocked of JRogan from #1 and i can’t help but think that maybe this place has a growing crossover influence?!?! So I thought I’d share some love podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/t...

Trump tariffs, presumed to help business, are new tax liabilities and the funds to pay taxes come only from gov spending which is being cut (also presumed growth friendly) = a full-on attack on GDP/output/employment, and Fed rate cuts would reduce gov spending that much more.

Really interesting take here, really a good explanation of negotiation strategy and also highlights the flaws of Trumparian hypocrisy. substack.com/@mikegalswor...

#econsky Sounds like the Triffin dilemma awaits. open.substack.com/pub/johnquig...

If Dutton were to explain how his nuclear plan works, *it wouldn't work*. As @adammorton.bsky.social lays out nicely here, Dutton has left out meaningful info for a nuclear strategy. Just enough of a mirage to sustain a noisy debate on something that won't happen (and he won't try to make happen)

If the gov hires anyone the private sector otherwise would not, any net real output adds that much to total real wealth.

🧵 There is a technology transition underway with renewable energy. even if you don't believe in climate change, when a transition is underway, the countries that transition the quickest will be better off.

The media has focused more on polling in the past 2 days than it has on policy for the entire past 3 years. Journalists get incredibly excited about the horse race. Means they don't have to do any work.

This is what Plato would have wanted

Wow, this is big. Singapore long carefully balanced its relations with the US and China, trying not to anger Washington. Now its minister of defense admits: The US "image has changed from liberator to great disruptor to a landlord seeking rent".
