Goodbye my two year streak. It was a helpful supplement to my language learning but dra i helvete med dette valget

Me: Depending on who you ask, the gap and dash mark is to signal a new section, indicate the conjunction of two sources, or hop over an imperfection in the surface of the material. I’ve never seen anything else in the corpus quite like it. I ultimately don’t have a good answer

As we sneak towards the end of term/semester, it’s a great time to look back at books that have been useful for your teaching this academic year. They can be old favourites or new staples, but please share some of the books and articles that have helped you this year! ⤵️

Roman Historian friends—wondering if you can help me out here on the Julio-Claudian dynasty. I’m researching Antonia the Younger and wondering what you consider the most primary discussions of her? Thinking along the lines of major monographs or pivotal sources on her.

Can anyone point me to anything written on the significance that the host in Judges 19 is an “old man”? Maybe @alexianafry.bsky.social ?

The skeetings will continue until morale improves

Sykkeltur til Lillesand i dag

Nice to see this in the flesh today. The volume is open access and you can read lots of interesting pieces within.

I think someone recently shared a picture of Werner Herzog with a LCL volume, wondering what it was. I think it was a greenback but he allegedly carries a copy of Livy’s history of Rome concerning Hannibal’s crossing of the alps (book 22?) so perhaps that is what was on the desk. I’ve lost the post

Great question. Anyone have any answers?

An arrival today courtesy of @dgb-philosophy.bsky.social. Thank you kindly, I look forward to getting into this

🔄 time for a change! I’m happy to share that I’m the new Acquisitions Editor for Biblical Studies @degruyterbrill.bsky.social. I’ll miss the early modern history crowd terribly, but I’m excited to dive into a new field! Looking forward to connect with all the biblical studies scholars out there!

It is four years to the day since I wrote this post. I'm still looking for plausible explanations and am still not convinced the clamps are for castration or twitching. Bsky is a new audience so maybe you all have new ideas... livyarrow.org/2021/03/31/c...

Ute på ski

Any clothing/dress historians of late-medieval Western Europe on here?

Would anyone like to help me deciphering some early modern English?
