A group of residents in the Casa Loma neighborhood, led by the amazing Sarah Gould, once approached me with an idea- let’s create an outdoor rink for everyone to enjoy. Together, we made it happen. A small rink can play a big role in improving a community’s quality of life.

I knew that progressive voters don’t want Doug Ford to remain Premier. That’s obvious. But a recent conversation I had with a conservative at Burger Shack made me realize Ford may not be undone by his traditional opponents, but eventually by those he once considered his base…

I love our caring community! Tonight, I joined several Coldest Night of the Year events to fight homelessness with St. Michael & All Angels and congregations from Beth Tzedec, Holy Blossom & Timothy Eaton Church to support Ve’ahavta’s life-saving Homelessness outreach van program

Doug Ford’s excuse for closing the Ontario Science Centre was as phony as his story for calling an early election. Today, we came together to tell all candidates from every party that it’s time to reopen, renew and reinvest in the science for generations to come!

“It’s like hiring an army of sloths”: Councillor Josh Matlow on the city’s excruciatingly slow snow removal torontolife.com/city/its-lik...

I enjoyed visiting with the volunteers and guests at the Out of the Cold at Holy Blossom Temple. This caring congregation has created a place full of positivity and dignity to support those who need our support. I really appreciated the many conversations we shared this evening.

Toronto needs to speed up its snow removal — and be like Montreal, councillor says www.thestar.com/news/gta/tor...

Toronto is a winter city. When it snows, our sidewalks need to be safe and accessible. The TTC needs to be operational. And our city needs to work. On behalf of residents, here are some requests I’m taking action on:

One more question for Doug Ford- Given that your government is currently under criminal investigation by the RCMP for corruption, why should the people of Ontario trust you?

The City of Toronto should actually clear the snow. There are cities that even invest in removing the snow. But plows simply shoving it all back up onto the sidewalks isn’t good enough.

I am Canadian. 🇨🇦🍁

All residents, including older adults and people with disabilities, need sidewalks that are clear, safe and accessible. That’s why I advocated for years to finally see sidewalk snow clearing expanded to every part of our city…

We have a homelessness crisis that demands action from every level of government including affordable and transitional housing, mental health, and addiction supports and improvements to the safety, access and supports at shelters, along with capacity…

When my father was a law student, he helped lead a coalition to abolish the death penalty in Canada. I remember placards and buttons he had that read, “Why kill people who kill people to show that killing people is wrong”. I also recall the many tragic stories of…

Governor Ford is filming Ontario election ads in Washington.

Vote for the Science Centre! Join me and SaveOSC and our communities for a rally on Saturday, February 22nd at Thorncliffe Park PS to ask all candidates running in the provincial election to support our call to reopen, renew and reinvest in the Ontario Science Centre!

An early morning walk through the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

Hard no.

If Trump places tariffs on Canada, Doug Ford’s plan is to dig a tunnel- costing billions of dollars & years of gridlock during construction. That’s ridiculous. Rather than put cars under a highway, let’s support the workers who make those cars, whose jobs are being threatened.

Doug Ford says he knows how to get things done. But the Eglinton LRT has been delayed by years, is over budget and businesses & residents were treated like collateral damage. Join me in calling for a public inquiry to demand transparency, accountability & to get transit done.

Old City Hall shouldn’t be abandoned. With thousands of artifacts that tell our city’s stories hidden away in warehouses, it’s time to share them with the public, and for this historic building to finally become the Museum of Toronto. www.thestar.com/opinion/star...

The Doug Ford government, that’s currently under an RCMP criminal investigation for corruption, is once again being accused of corruption. Vote them out.

My heartfelt condolences to our city’s Ismaili community on the passing of the Aga Khan, His Highness Prince Karim Al-Hussaini- a champion for peace, human rights & understanding. I’m grateful Toronto hosts a remarkable Aga Khan Museum that is forever a testament to his legacy.

A promise Toronto made to Little Jamaica isn’t kept in the proposed 2025 budget - funding for a plan to retain and attract businesses, housing, social services, and a safe and vibrant business area including the Black-owned and…

There’s something real that we can do right now to take a stand and make a difference. Buy Canadian, shop local and invest into our communities. We’re always stronger, and get through even the harshest storms, when we take care of each other. 🇨🇦🍁

Kung Hei Fat Choi! Chinatown is a very special part of our city. Thank you so much to the Chinatown BIA for inviting me to celebrate the lunar new year with the community. I wish everyone a happy, healthful and prosperous year of the snake!

Ford’s snap provincial election, and Trump’s tariffs, both have something in common- they’re dishonest plans opportunistically looking for a reason. The strategically timed taxpayer-funded advertising and $200 cheques suggest Ford’s wanted this for months…

While many Canadians struggle with the cost of groceries, 46.5% of all food is wasted every year. This has to change. I visited Second Harvest in Etobicoke to learn about their work to ensure unsold food gets to the dinner table. Visit secondharvest.ca to learn more.

Doug Ford has spent more time interfering in Toronto than doing his job- being Premier. It’s time for Toronto to fight back- and have the power, autonomy & accountability to thrive. Sign our petition to begin this work now. www.joshmatlow.ca/charter_city

Like big cities around the world, Toronto needs the powers, accountability & autonomy to provide the effective local government Torontonians deserve- and without constant provincial meddling. I’m fighting for a City Charter. The work needs to begin now. www.thestar.com/news/gta/mar...

Gong Xi Fa Cai! I had a lot of fun celebrating the lunar new year with the Toronto Chinese Business Association today. The Year of the Snake is all about wisdom and transformation. I hope this new year brings you and your family happiness and prosperity.

Six million Jews were horrifically murdered by the Nazis during the Holocaust. I attended the International Holocaust Remembrance Day event at City Hall today to mourn together, learn from inspiring survivors like Irene Kurtz and to stand with our city’s Jewish community.

This morning, we announced a comprehensive motion I’m moving, seconding by Jamaal Myers & supported by TTC Riders to address the constant delays on our subway system, improve TTC communications and make it easier for people to get to work and school on time. This is so important.
