Following on from the thread below... The final two papers in the @crispp.bsky.social symposium on my 2023 Food, Justice, and Animals and Anne Barnhill and @matteobonotti.bsky.social's 2022 Healthy Eating Policy and Political Philosophy have now been published online ahead of print! (1/4)

Great to see this symposium on my & Anne Barnhill's and Josh Milburn's recent monographs on food justice being published in @crispp.bsky.social! Many thanks to the guest editor, Tom Bailey, and to all the commentators!

A mega book symposium (covering two books on an overlapping - and in political philosophy, neglected - issue - that of food - healthy eating and justice for animals). Will go on line early and be assigned to an issue in a year or so.

The Hand That Feeds is now available open access from @uclpress.bsky.social. If you haven't already, now would be a great time to listen to my interview with @juliettewaterman.bsky.social, released earlier this month. uclpress.co.uk/book/the-han...

I’ve just presented on animals and the meaning of life (in Robert Nozick’s thought) at UBC’s Interspecies Sociality conference — although over Zoom, rather than in-person! Big thanks to @mattwperry.bsky.social and Kimberley Brownlee for the invite.

I have two assistant jobs open for my chair (environmental and administrative law) here at UNIL @unil.bsky.social, starting this fall! I'm thrilled to share that @crispp.bsky.social has started to publish a nine-article symposium on my Food, Justice, and Animals and @matteobonotti.bsky.social and Anne Barnhill's Healthy Eating Policy and Political Philosophy. First up: This is Tom Bailey's introduction to the symposium. (1/7)

Between the Species has now published my response to Hyde, a version of which I originally shared on my website. I argue that Hyde's claims are, in many ways, confused. digitalcommons.calpoly.edu/bts/vol28/is...

Thrilled to have received the first copies of my new book (co-authored with the wonderful John Adenitire). Very grateful to the team at #OxfordUniversityPress and the editors of the Oxford Constitutional Theory series for their support.

University lecturers: please students don't just use AI and actually challenge yourself to read and write and understand things. Every piece of software used in the learning process: here is an AI assistant so you don't need to read or write things yourself. (This one is from ProQuest Ebook reader)

Are you writing on animals and (non)violence? Are you interested in getting it published in the Journal of Pacifism and Nonviolence? If so, I have brilliant news for you: I'm putting together a Special Issue on Animals and (Non)violence! Details here: brill.com/fileasset/do... #polisky #animalsky

Why would one cut funding for food safety tests including dairy, which we know are a major health threat, and also try to ban synthetic dyes, which are not a known health threat? Hint: it's ideology not science. @garrettbroad.bsky.social & I wrote about it last month: newrepublic.com/article/1933...

"The fight for the freedom of Palestine, and the fight against anti-Semitism, go hand in hand, because injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." -- philosophy student Mohsen Mahdawi, who was abducted by ICE Monday during a citizenship interview.

The fun thing abt my job is sometimes I have no idea what will be plopped onto my agenda—which is to say, I got roped into writing about the new wolves. They're neither dire wolves nor "de-extincted," & they have more to do w/ enacting human fantasies than helping animals www.vox.com/future-perfe...

Today, I’m in Birmingham for the 2025 Cellular Agriculture Social Sciences Symposium! I can now say I’ve held cultivated meat (though I still haven’t eaten it). My presentation is on whether there is (or should be) ‘a philosophy of cellular agriculture’.

Here a recent interview with @joshmilburn.bsky.social for the podcast Knowing Animals on my article about the 'fabric of zoodemocracy.' It was such a pleasure chatting with Josh. Many thanks again for the invite, and for the excellent work you do with the podcast, and everything else, Josh :)
