Happy to see this SI, Synergies in SLA/T, co-guest edited by Dwight Atkinson Marije Michel and Amable Ribeiro just fresh off the press on MLJ. Much of it is open access, including my commentary 'A Translanguager's take on a Synergy-Driven SLA/T' onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/... 💜

Changing institutions as an #academic means adapting to a new system, and relearning/remapping organisational dynamics and your role in them. It's hard work. Now, changing institutions internationally is a whole different beast with #language and #culture entering the chat. Year 2 and still learning

If only students knew how OBVIOUS it is when they have use ChatGPT to write their papers...

Visiting the University of Jena, in Germany, this afternoon, to discuss my work on #translanguaging in heritage language #education and its implications for #multilingualism research 💜 I always look forward to connecting with grad students and hearing their impression on critical perspectives

Posting so that I don't forget: prioritising my family, my health, and balancing work as part of life helped me turn a terrible 2023/early 2024 into a lovely late 2024. I look forward to this new year in ways I haven't for a while. Wishing everyone fulfillment and health ❤️ #academicsky #academia

Today, after our last Second Language Acquisition, Teaching & Assessment module lecture, with some of my wonderful MA Applied Linguistics students. They're sharp, talented, hardworking and humble. They also happen to be funny, chatty and friendly. A great (and a little tired) cohort.

Last week of lecturing -- activated.

Excited to share this recent publication on translanguaging awareness, teacher education, and arts-based approaches. The chapter is part of a lovely open access book wonderfully co-edited by Paula Kalaja and Silvia Melo-Pfeifer ❤️ www.degruyter.com/document/doi...

Today, we're closing our annual Winter/Summer school at the University of Oldenburg as part of our Internationalising Teacher Education project developed between schools in Germany, the Netherlands and South Africa. Missed the in-person part, but really enjoyed organising it. More next year!

This is IMPORTANT work.

Spending the day writing recomm letters for former students applying for PhD programmes far and wide. I'm proud of them for willing to contribute their talent to a world that seems less and less comfortable with thinkers able to offer grounded criticism. There is some fulfillment in hope.

I've created a starter pack with scholars and groups working on different areas related to Multilingualism --- please, share. Happy to add more. go.bsky.app/KSQ5zm
