Some nice publications gave me starred reviews, so I made a pretty graphic. Et voila. Please read and leave reviews and tell your friends, etc!

Ten years ago today, the world premiere production of my play Blood Water Paint opened in Seattle. As it did, I was thinking, "She's seventeen during most of the play. I think this could be a YA novel." So much love to the original cast, especially Alex Highsmith & Daniel Christensen, seen here.

Looking for a historical feminist vigilante story that blends both prose and verse? Don't miss @joymccullough.bsky.social's EVERYTHING IS POISON! Don't take our word for it, the FIVE STARS speak for themselves!

TEAM AWKWARD Book 1 is out today in paperback and hardcover! Publishers Weekly said in a starred review, "Cat-astrophically laugh out loud misadventures offer maturing readers and exceptional model for what fulfilling relationships can look like."

Seattle Children's Hospital is complying in advance w/the EO against gender-affirming care, cancelling three surgeries at last minute. Want to email them, and the Asst AGs? [email protected] [email protected] [email protected]

Thank you, Shelf Awareness!!!

Last night my 80-year-old aunt said something racist & my 18-year-old called her out quite harshly. My instinct was to suggest she'd be more convincing with a gentler approach, but I stopped myself. Being gentle w/racists is how we got here. Let it rip, Gen Z. Thank you for teaching me to do better.

A bit of happy news: Team Awkward Book 1 comes out in a couple weeks, and Book 2 comes out in June. Now we've made the deal for books 3 & 4! This is a Babysitters Club-esque series, so this deal means all four of the core girls will each get their own book! Yay!!!

Just called my reps using 5 Calls. This app makes it SO EASY. And if you're anxious about getting a real person, I almost never do, but you can just call outside of office hours to be assured of getting a voice mail. No congressperson's phone should ever be silent right now. 5calls.org

LOOK WHAT ARRIVED!!! Team Awkward Book One is my first book to release simultaneously in hardcover and paperback, and they come out on 2/11. The hardcover has a GORGEOUS purple foil on the spine! I'm so excited for these awkward girls to be in the hands of readers!

Big news, educator friends! My 2023 YA novel ENTER THE BODY is now available to license for production as a stage play! You can read the whole play - as well as the competition-length one-act version - on the Stage Partners website. English teachers, please tell your drama teacher colleagues! :-)

Well, today is awful. But instead of watching (much of) the news, I wrote a scene where a group of women band together and commit to helping each other survive the reign of a monster who shouldn't have power, and that was something.

I'm honored to have EVERYTHING IS POISON on this great list! Thanks, @slj.com!

Finding that perfect artistic collaborator who understands your deeply strange brain, and who pushes you to go even further into the twisting dark corners and makes everything you do so much better - there's nothing else like it. I am endlessly indebted to and grateful for @andrewkarre.bsky.social.

This is what being a true ally looks like. Thank you, Scott McCloud.

Thank you so much, @amandamacgregor.bsky.social!!!

I was so thrilled when my editor @andrewkarre.bsky.social agreed that EVERYTHING IS POISON could have my first map. Even more thrilling was when he agreed my daughter could do the map. We are so grateful to Andrew, and to art director Anna Booth for giving us this first foray into collaboration.

EVERYTHING IS POISON is out today!! If, for whatever reason, you're feeling enraged by systemic patriarchy's insistence on protecting and elevating the most insidious abusers, this is the book for you!

I see dudes saying, "Wow, Gaiman is such a creep!!" but here's the thing: you know a guy just like him. Probably lots of them. He's *not* an exception. His behavior is not remarkable. It is average. Normal. Typical. If you're surprised by it, you're not paying attention.

I've had the great honor of recording parts of some of my audiobooks but Everything is Poison was the first time I got the chance to narrate the entire audiobook. Now I have a whole new thing to be nervous about! Out in one week! www.penguinrandomhouse.com/.../everythi...

⭐️⭐️⭐️ It's a third star for EVERYTHING IS POISON! Thanks, @slj.com!

BLOOD WATER PAINT fans, @joymccullough.bsky.social is back! EVERYTHING IS POISON hits shelves this month!

I got a question on another platform about how to write trauma when you don't want to make a character go through what you went through. I gave it some thought so I'm sharing here too. (1/5)
