Without going all Martin Niemöller here, I do think that it's bad not to speak up for immigrants, transgender Americans, civil servants, women, Ukraine, and everyone else the MAGA bullies are going after. We're beyond picking and choosing whom to defend. It's time to stand up and speak out.

Last night @60minutes.bsky.social opened an otherwise superb segment on Germany’s approach to online hate speech by saying “in the U.S., most of what’s said on online [social media] platforms is protected by the First Amendment.” No.The First Amend protects us against GOVT infringements on speech.

Every single person should be horrified and frightened by this. Like I said a month ago, keep some cash in your house. That goes for too NYC. And Baltimore. And Atlanta. And Chicago.

The complete failure of Republicans in Congress to exercise their power as a check on the executive branch is national disgrace. But the courts are doing their job and may yet protect democracy from Trump.

When Trump was sworn in, Elon Musk's corporations were under more than 32 investigations conducted by at least 11 federal agencies. Most of the cases are now closed or likely to be closed soon, and the federal agencies are being defanged by DOGE. Funny how that works, huh?
