Turns out love is finite.

"Masked security forces captured an opposition leader in the coastal province of New Jersey as regime officials continue their months-long crack-down against pro-democracy elements in the embattled United States. The arrest comes as the regime issued calls for summary detentions without trial."

Never forget that Darren Beattie is a Nazi. This administration’s commitment to fighting antisemitism begins and ends with critics of Israel’s death march through Gaza. But white supremacists will always have a home in this administration.

Bike check: picking up kid from play practice at the mall.

If these abductions do not push every single one of you to question the existence of immigrant "detention" centers and the conditions of ALL prisons and jails, then you are really doing life wrong. Conditions in detention, jails, and prisons in the U.S. ARE TERRIBLE. They are awful every single day.

I knew that guy in high school.

12% of driving-age adults do not have driver’s licenses. People not licensed are more likely to be people of color and young people. In 2021, 25% of 16-year-olds had driver’s licenses, compared to 46% in 1983.

My understanding is that people with suspended licenses still drive at high rates, and some advocates are trying to require speed limiters for drivers who habitually speed.

the only real answer to “what is a woman?” is “it’s complicated! but it’s the kind of complicated that the human brain is particularly good at handling with broad rulesets, noted exceptions, and allowances for overrides like self-identification”

Excited to hear a keynote by @nondriver.bsky.social (Anna Zivarts) at the Moving Missouri Forward Summit! #MovingMOForward2025

The world is all fucked up, but the Game Changer season 7 premier—a weird, hilarious piece of art—is this week’s reminder that people can do great and beautiful things.

Hey, it’s Columbia!

This is the beginning of a thread about movies that feature characters discovering important information via microfiche

About 40,000 Americans die in car crashes every year.

My @nehgov.bsky.social grant “In the Shadow of the Holocaust: Short Fiction by Jewish Writers from the Soviet Union” was canceled by “DOGE.” The project doesn’t support "the furtherance of the President's agenda.” Jews surviving genocide: out of step w/ the agenda of using Jews to destroy higher ed.

I just got confirmation that National History Day, a program that does more to ignite K-12 students' love of history, learning, and yes, even the United States than anything else I've ever seen, had all its funding cut yesterday by the DOGE-axe at the NEH - including for this year's ongoing contest.

American individualism and "frontier spirit" obviously pre-date the automobile, but is it any wonder our society is angry, lonely, and selfish in many ways? Hard to envision a less humane way of structuring our entire society.
