Read Dr. Noor Abdalla's letter to her husband Mahmoud Khalil one month into his unlawful detainment by ICE for his political advocacy. We will keep fighting until our client Mahmoud is home.

God writing is so hard. Trying to work on a short story about psychics and… stuff… then suddenly I watch a movie and it inspires another short story that my brain is foaming at the mouth for. 😅🥲 #writing #writers #creativewriting

What do you guys think about ‘creative technical writing’? #writing #creativewriting

President Trump banning the Associated Press from an event over their usage of "Gulf of Mexico" instead of "Gulf of America" may seem more absurd than alarming, but Trump's attacks on the free press are no joke.

We don't get ready, we stay ready. ACLU legal director Cecillia Wang talks with host W. Kamau Bell about President Trump's attacks on our rights, and how we are fighting back on this episode of At Liberty.

Public universities cannot ban people from campus for voicing their opinions.

President Trump's executive actions lay out a plan to erase transgender people’s existence under the law. Trans people have always existed and always will — no matter what politicians say or do.

Writing is tough man. Harder and harder everyday. #writing #creativewriting

Ty’s school was very aware of his disability and what it entailed however the school did not tell officers, and officers did not bother to check if he had a disability before throwing him in juvie and traumatising a 13-year-old. He's afraid he’ll be arrested if he goes back to school.

Ty (alias) was arrested when he had an outburst thanks to his disability. He said the school would blow up if they opened his bag and saw the Bonnie (FNAF) plush inside. Law says any threats of mass violence by children are a Felony. Exceptions are made for children with disabilities.

I just feel cold now.

Man I just haven't been able to write anything. For time reasons. For mind reasons. For I am dying reasons. #writing

But there was one thing Silveryn couldn’t shake from his mind, the general had said the night before, ‘you will make the hard decisions.’ Something about that stuck with him as they rode out towards the coast again.

It was character and intelligence that made a leader… and if Navano thought he was bearing such traits maybe he should trust their opinion.

a decision he was sure that the men under him didn’t fully agree with. But he soon saw that he wasn’t the only one dramatically promoted. He realized that Navano had little choice, the men among them indeed were battle-hardened, but battle does not make a good leader, Silveryn knew this all too well

General said no more, and did not wait for Silveryn to argue, he turned and walked away into the night. That was the eve of Silveryn’s days as a commander in the forces of General Navano, and while to Silveryn this seemed an unusual and poorly decided proclamation,

The General nodded, “Yes they do.” He did not meet the cleric’s gaze, “you will make the hard decisions. Even though they are not the easiest, or that they are the best. But they are right. Mourn our dead tonight cleric but come morning we rally the armies and prepare to face evils of myth.”

Come sunrise you will be promoted to captain. Then you will take leadership of your company.” Silveryn stiffened and looked in disbelief at the General, “Sir? But… but the other clerics or the paladins have years more experience in war than I.”

Silveryn nodded again joining him in peering into the flame, “Yes sir. I had to kill him myself.” Silveryn did not see the General examine their face as they said it, but the General nodded and returned his eyes to the fire, “very well.

To know we face a lich is one thing. But it is another to learn we face something so rare and powerful. Not a word.” Silveryn nodded slowly, “Yes sir.” Navano sighed and looked back to the fire, “if I remember correctly your company has lost four members including its commander.”

Silveryn listened intently, but as he heard the General trail off, he spoke slowly and quietly, “You think a fourth has appeared.” General Navano looked at him again with a stern but not fowl expression, “you tell no one what I told you.

the second never actually woke fully the Walkers of the Horizon actually defeated that one but not without great effort, and the third is said to have been in the south… but what happened to that one is still a mystery, some say the Southern Cardinal engulfed it in her fog.”

The words Ieldraes līċ translate roughly to greater lich, it is an apt name. To my knowledge, only three have ever graced the world. One awoke in the north but faced the Northern Cardinal,

The man held the stern glare a second more, “Before the Cardinals rose and claimed their territories, there were wizards who indeed became liches. But these men… and women, learned to further debase their mortal souls. They enhanced themselves further.

The general nodded, “that’s accurate enough, but I’ll spare you the details of that. Long ago, back before the Cardinals flew the-“ Silveryn looked to the general, “Before the four Cardinals?” Navano looked to the cleric clearly not pleased to have been interrupted, “oh, uh sorry General.”

But it was Navano who said it before him, “Ieldraes līċ, what did the congregation of your home teach you of them.” Silveryn thought a moment before responding, “Lich are wiz… were wizards who sought ever life and paid for it with their humanity, becoming powerful undead horrors.”

A lich… a concerning development indeed.” The young cleric spoke, “General… the day passed I had not intended to eavesdrop as you spoke, but I heard you call it a…” he paused as he attempted to sound out the words with his lips.

They shared a solemn look with each other then peered into the fire together, the General spoke again, “This battle was to be done in three days… that’s what I and my lieutenants had planned at least. Now it seems it will take another three days to catch up to their horde.

The general was an imposing human man, most men and women born on the northern continent of Mog were. He wore custom-fitted plate armor, that looked lighter and stronger than any armor that Silveryn had ever seen, a broadsword on his back and a short sword on his hip.

The General looked to his subordinate, “Hello…” he cocked his weary head to better see the emblem signifying Silveryn’s status as a cleric, “…Cleric. The light keeps you well?”

But he was stirred from his praying by the footsteps of General Navano. He turned and spoke, “Good evening, General,” his voice hurt to speak as he had taken no water on arrival the liquid making him feel sick.

Against that, it was hard to say. But the leaders resigned to decide by morning. Silveryn didn’t sleep that night and stood by a brazier outside the storeroom converted to barracks for them. His eyes were searching the fire for some sign of his god to guide him in these demanding times.

Silveryn heard young men among the army whispering about families in these places, in the path of the horde. He understood their fear, and the whispers from some declaring their need to act, and he agreed but with what forces, what strategy?

But in the past decade, the North Sea Alliance had found a use for the shores as training grounds, shipyards, and fishing villages. Even some aristocrats and politicians had decided to found towns, using the magic of druids and some rumored warlocks to chase away the blight inch by inch.

The land was unfit for any harvesting for as long as anyone could remember, so only the mad, and those looking to do no good settled there for the longest time.

They welcomed the order of Ehtos, but Silveryn saw it in the faces of these soldiers' fear as they learned what had been faced, even though it seemed to be going in the opposite direction. The center continent was mostly unclaimed land.

It was another two days before the remaining 6 regiments were able to limp their way to an unnamed fort manned by the North Sea Alliances army.

“A Ieldraes līċ,” his words in a language that Silveryn for all his knowledge didn’t know, “I thought… I never dreamt such an abomination could truly roam the realms under Ehtos’ light.”

As they made camp, a day later having retreated as far as would make them safe, or at least till they couldn’t retreat anymore from exhaustion, Silveryn heard General Navano speak.

As they fled two more regiments would unintentionally fall behind as fodder to slow the enemy in its pursuit. At the end of the day, nine companies had fallen. And it was as they fled that Silveryn saw more than one hundred rise again wrapped in a sickly white light.

He prayed to Ehtos for the paragon of light’s forgiveness, and the safe travel of the man to his lord’s realm beyond the blinding light. Only after the seventh company fell did their general, a paladin of great renowned by the name of Navano, order a retreat.

By the end of the day, Silveryn had not only killed his first undead, but he had also killed his first person. While he would later come to understand the paladin, he’d killed was not in fact alive, the matter left him shaken for many years.
