A quick walk around Upper Queen Anne shows great examples of larger multi-family buildings coexisting with healthy/developing tree canopies. Adequate space between the sidewalk and the street is more important than the width of a setback, it seems. Road diets = more 🌳🌲

Let’s do this in Seattle’s Capitol Hill! …but with elevated lanes and multicolor clinkers 🧱🌈🚴‍♂️

Cities in Washington will have the legal authority to create shared streets, which feature much lower speed limits and put pedestrians first under Senate Bill 5595. Governor Bob Ferguson signed the bill into law Saturday. It will go into effect on July 27. Story: www.theurbanist.org/2025/05/19/g...

Washington's first-in-the-nation shared streets bill, allowing local governments to lower speed limits to 10 mph on specific streets where vehicle traffic must yield to pedestrian, bike, and scooter traffic, is now law. app.leg.wa.gov/billsummary?...

I saw this cute tote at Metsker Maps today and am determined to replace our current mediocre “Welcome to Washington” highway sign design with this one. Whaddya say, @wsdot.wa.gov?

South Tacoma: ✅ cute small businesses! ✅ amazing 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ bagels ✅ Sounder station! ❌ tree canopy ❌ adequate crosswalks ❓ gentrification

A terrible anniversary for Seattle:

The four stages of tonight’s dinner: Marcella Hazan’s bolognese (with an arugula salad) 🤌🏻🇮🇹 You’ve gotta be patient with bolognese. This recipe takes about four hours to complete!

This is an exciting development for my alma mater! “The upgrades are designed to better connect the [University of Arkansas] campus to the Razorback Greenway and reduce serious injuries along the corridor.” Funding is mostly coming from President Biden’s bipartisan infrastructure law 🥳

@kingcountymetro.bsky.social buses are so much nicer and brighter when the advertising vinyl wrap has been ripped off the windows 😌☀️

A great day at Washington Park Arboretum 🌺🌤️

Let’s build more stacked flats like the stunning “Laurabell”! I’d love to have my own sunroom. ☀️ (This beautiful building is located at 1112 Broadway E. in Capitol Hill, Seattle)

Snapshots from today + went to the gym. A nice day off! 🙂

And in the middle of air quality awareness week...

I’ve made an effort to try some new-to-me Seattle restaurants over the last week! • Tilikum Place Café, Belltown • La Parisienne Bakery, Belltown • El Grito Taqueria, Cascade/South Lake Union • Virginia Inn, Pike Place Market

Unpopular opinion: I’m watching the A’s vs. Mariners game (Go Seattle!) and have determined that the Athletics should stay where the are. Primarily because #Sacramento is 1,000x cooler than Las Vegas will ever be. Also, their little stadium is packed on a random Tuesday night. Amazing!

Roaming around Capitol Hill on this gorgeous sunny Sunday #Seattle

I prefer Seattle's method of flirting of: "HI I'm awkward and you're awkward let's be awkward together"

Thoughts and prayers for recently pedestrianized Pike Place Market, clearly struggling on this dreary Spring day. (Sarcasm)

Today’s run to/from Gas Works Park was quite lovely 🏃🏻‍♂️

Just an update to show y'all where the urban growth boundary, which Cathy Moore said prevents sprawl outside Seattle, actually is. It goes all the way out to North Bend and includes all of the sprawl areas outside Seattle.

The Liberals are gonna win tonight’s election by double digits, aren’t they

Suburban hell, Portland edition (McMenamins is an oasis in this greenwashed business park) 📍Tigard, Oregon

I’m trying to picture something like this in Edmonds, Tukwila, Woodinville, etc. A guy can dream, I guess
