Long overdue for Brazil -- controversy or not, I felt like I'm Still Here would've won once people got around to seeing it! If anyone could've pulled it off, it was going to be Salles.

When I first read the screenplay for Blue Velvet when I was 15, before ever watching it, I was immediately spellbound. Since then, David Lynch, eternally curious and questioning, upended my expectations time and time again with his groundbreaking work. RIP to a true original.
