It was on this date in 1945 that FDR died of a cerebral hemorrhage at his cottage in Warm Springs, GA. He was sitting for a portrait when he was stricken around 1pm. His last words were “I have a terrific headache.” His blood pressure was 350/195, around three times higher than normal. He was 63.
