Don't fool yourself. Migrants aren't being deported. They're being held in internment camps, many without any criminal record whatsoever. The resurrection of internment camps should give us all chills.

Gov. Kathy Hochul has the authority to remove Mayor Adams who is betraying the people he was elected to represent in the name of kissing up to Trump. She needs to hear from us to urge her to do the right thing.

A quick resistance task: 1. Google Gulf of Mexico 2. “Gulf of America" is the top 3. Click on the three little dots to the right of it 4. Select "Send Feedback" 5. Click on "Gulf Of America" 6. Select "Inaccurate content" 7. Select "Incorrect" and type in "The correct name is “Gulf of Mexico"

It was a special day when we found this series of decorative plates created by David Lynch. It's too hard to see but each one has a caption and together they tell a story. A moody one of course. May his memory be a blessing. #davidlynch

My first read of 2025. @legroff.bsky.social has set the bar high. A propulsive read that forced me to slow down to savor the beautiful sentences. As one girl seeks to survive we confront the difference between conquering the land and living within its rules.

Last book of 2024. A fitting examination of time, belonging, leaving and returning, cycles, and asking questions about what is so important about human beings anyway.

I went to the bookstore and said I would read whatever the bookseller recommended without reading the blurb. This was a brilliant choice. I Amy try this strategy more often.

I'm a cliche. Watched Love Actually on Christmas, after lighting the candles for the first night of Chanukah. I'll take love and light wherever I can get. Happy holidays, winter, solstice --whatever today means to you--to everyone.

So nice to have a dog that loves books as much as I do.

In her essay in @pw.org on decolonizing the novel, Namrata Poddar says: "The Holocaust was the culmination of a white history of colonial and genocidal violence perpetrated against people of color across the planet." No. The victims were 6 mil Jews and their ancestors whom you have just gaslit.

Cutting edge pediatric cancer research saved my daughter's life. What will cutting $190 million from the budget save? It's too small a number to even make an impact on the deficit. Once again, children being asked to sacrifice themselves for a sick Republican agenda. www.newsweek.com/pediatric-ca...

Now you see him, now you don't.

Thanksgiving at my house: 9 kids under 4, 7 moody teens and pre-tweens, 7 dogs, lots of happy adults, age 30 to 78, missing our elders and counting our blessings. #gratitude #thanks #family

From Leila Slimani's WATCH US DANCE. "He thinks she does all this out of love and she wants to yell at him: 'What you call love is actually work!' Were women really so filled with affection and kindness that they could spend an entire lifetime ... taking care of others." #women #marriage #motherhood

Thank you @dintywmoore.bsky.social for posting this wrenching essay. Best to read by pausing after each name mentioned.

Using TALK, a poem by Kwame Dawes, with my writing group today to generate stories about anger, who speaks for you, the anger you never expressed, etc. I expect there will be some powerful stories. #generativewriting #writingworkshop poets.org/poem/talk
